We are seeking a Computer Aided Design and Drafting Technologist to perform Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Desinger duties

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Initiate, design, develop, execute, and evaluate new processes, products, or systems for implementing and integrating engineering solutions.
+ Produce designs, models, and product definition of complex circuits.
+ Resolve product requirements based on user needs.
+ Plan, lay out, draw, and revise detailed part, assembly, and installation engineering drawings from basic layouts, established references, and standard data in a field of specialization.
+ Complete details of major layout drawings prepared by others in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices.
+ Use CAD application software to develop electrical design concepts.
+ Craft schematic symbols and component footprints as ECAD library elements for use in PCB design.
+ Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
+ Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required:

+ 2-year associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical Design or related field and two years of relevant experience; or high school diploma and six years of relevant experience.
+ Experience using computer aided design software
+ Experience with industry and Mil spec standards.

Desired:

+ Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline
+ 2-year associates in STEM or other relevant discipline
+ 8 years relevant experience;
+ Understanding of manufacturing methods for electrical hardware
+ Demonstrated experience using Mentor Graphics Expedition tool suite
+ Understanding of configuration management principles
+ Motivated team member who readily accepts and completes tasks in a timely manner.
+ Shown ability to communicate effectively with customers and peers.
+ Understanding of Design for Manufacturing principles
+ Demonstrated successful teamwork with excellent communication skills
+ Consistent record of demonstrating initiative and getting results
+ Strong interest in product design and development
+ Active US DOE Q security clearance
+ Experience using PDMLink or other Product Data Management software tool.
+ Working knowledge of automated material lists and/or Procurement Indices.
+ Experience with engineering authorizations.
+ Familiarity with weapons product definition rules.

We are seeking motivated PCB Layout Designer to join our dynamic Design Engineering Group (2470). Electrical Design Department (2473) is responsible for providing knowledgeable and capable resources to develop and create Electrical Computer Aided Design (ECAD) product definition for Nuclear Weapons (NW) and Strategic Partnership Projects (SPP) programs. The department's unique capabilities include design capture and physical layout of Printed Circuit Boards for both the analog and digital regimes and Flex and Rigid Flex Cables with Printed Circuit Boards; and, interacting with vendors to procure quick turn prototype circuit boards.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications.
