The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering in the College of Engineering and Computing at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for a full-time instructor position starting in August 2021. The position requires a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related field with an experience in undergraduate mechanical engineering education. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentorship, and service, with an emphasis on a willingness to integrate engineering education research outcomes into ME curriculum. Duties will include Mechanical Engineering instruction at the undergraduate level, coordination of teaching laboratories, and mentorship and supervision of teaching assistants (TAs) and learning assistants (LAs). The ideal candidate is also expected to take an active role in curriculum reforms such as transformation of existing courses, integration of active learning principles,  development and integration of computational tools, hands-on and virtual laboratory experiences, new course design, and/or developing new teaching modalities including potential online/hybrid courses. The candidate is expected to collaborate closely with fellow Mechanical Engineering faculty as well as faculty from the newly formed School of Universal Computing, Construction, and Engineering Education (SUCCEED), and have departmental administration and committee duties as a full-time instructor.
