The Russ College of Engineering and Technology Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ohio University invites applications for an open rank, tenure-track faculty position beginning fall or spring semester 2018-19 from scholars with a passion for student development and innovative research in materials, materials processing, advanced manufacturing, mechanical design or a related field.

 

The position will develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Mechanical Engineering, including teaching courses in the mechanical design sequence and coaching student design teams at the freshman and senior level; develop an independent externally funded research program and publish research results in reputable journals; advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students; assess student outcomes in support of program accreditation; and provide service that supports the functioning of the university and relevant professional organizations.

 

The ideal candidate would have a successful record of college-level teaching experience; product design experience in industry or as an entrepreneur; a strong record of journal publications; experience in grant writing as a project director or principal investigator; excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to help students develop these skills; an ability to teach in both traditional and distance education modes; and research accomplishments and plans that demonstrate an ability to collaborate with other departmental faculty on projects that attract external funding and produce results that impact their field.

Minimum qualifications:

Earned Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field conferred by the start date of appointment (foreign degrees acceptable)
