Sandias Information Systems Analysis Center has a systems-assessment Laboratory Support Technologist opening for an exceptional SEM/FIB and AFM technician for work in our Counterfeit Detection Center. This position will support of a broad range of Sandia missions by imaging and analyzing micro-electronics hardware samples for applied research projects and customers. Successful candidates will also be familiar with integrated circuit device layout and IC failure analysis techniques. Meticulous attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to function on a multidisciplinary team are highly prized. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make important contributions in support of the Department's growing national mission and forensics-related activities.


+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ A minimum of 5 years laboratory experience in semiconductor Failure Analysis or related discipline
+ Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE SCI clearance


+ BS degree in a STEM related field
+ Familarity with typical Failure Analysis tools such as: SEM, Dual Beam FIB, and software
+ Experience in the following FIB analytical methods: Imaging, Milling, Deposition of material, Device edit, Device fabrication, In-situ sample manipulation
+ Familiarity with atomic force microscopy (AFM)
+ Knowledge of the foundations of materials science
+ Demonstrated ability and desire to learn and expand technical skills
+ Aptitude in communicating with a variety of customers and communication styles
+ Experience working collaboratively in team settings
+ Effective interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
+ Experience in and/or ability to organize tasks to enable work on multiple projects simultaneously
+ Outstanding work ethic and self-motivation
+ Ability and desire to work independently with little oversight
+ Detail-oriented mindset and strong organization skills
+ Strong commitment to customer satisfaction, quality, safety, collaboration, and teamwork
+ A DOE Q clearance

Department Description:

Department 5842 manages a diverse set of activities and program responsibilities surrounding microsystems assessment capability. Activities include a) overseeing the health of assessment capabilities to ensure customer deliverables are met today and tomorrow; b) partnering with research departments within 5800 and outside to develop and implement assessment technology and capability roadmaps to ensure future capability needs are met; c) leading assessment capability infrastructure projects to meet customer needs; d) partnering with cross program efforts between NW and DSA to further develop opportunities to strengthen/develop assessment capabilities; and e) providing cross cutting technical support for continuous

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level security clearance to start.

Position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level security clearance or active clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD) to be considered for this position.
