This postdoctoral position is a temporary position for up to one year, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to five additional years\. The PhD must have been conferred within five years prior to employment\.

Individuals in postdoctoral positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance\.

A post\-doctoral opening exists for an exceptional candidate to conduct leading\-edge research on simulation of advanced semiconductor devices\. Wide\- and ultra\-wide\-bandgap \(WBG/UWBG\) gallium nitride \(GaN\) and aluminum gallium nitride \(AlGaN\) high\-power devices are of primary interest, although the position may involve simulation of other semiconductor materials and device types as well\. Models will be used to improve device design and reliability, and will push the state\-of\-the\-art\. Select results will be published in journal articles and conference presentations\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

Model the static and dynamic behavior of semiconductor devices

Optimize the design of new semiconductor device types

Implement the physics of new semiconductor materials into device simulations

Correlate simulation output to experimental results

Provide circuit designers with device models useful for circuit design and simulation

PhD, conferred within 5 years prior to employment, in electrical engineering, applied physics, materials science, or an equivalent field

A demonstrated record of semiconductor device research as evidenced by publications, patents, and/or conference presentations

Expertise in TCAD software such as Silvaco Atlas

Experience with general numerical analysis software such as MATLAB

Ability to write papers for publication in refereed journals and conferences
