The vehicle systems analysis group at Pratt & Whitney is at the forefront of advancing and optimizing next generation engine capability through joint aircraft and engine performance optimization as well as engineering support to sales and marketing organizations. With the rapid advancement of next generation military and commercial platforms, Pratt & Whitney is seeking and developing engineering technical leaders with expertise in both aircraft and engine performance to advance the state of the art and add value with these propulsion systems.

Join a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team of engineers leading the industry in aircraft and engine integration for new product and fielded product applications.


The range of responsibilities will include:

  • Analysis of flight mechanics with various engine configurations in conceptual definition, multi-disciplinary optimization, engine usage evaluation to enable aftermarket decisions and pricing, and customer interface for engine problem resolution.
  • You will have a broad use of analytical methods for flight mechanics, engine cycle simulations, durability methods, statistical fleet forecasting, design optimization software, airline economic evaluation, and extensive databases for world-wide fleet operations.
  • Advanced military applications require developing and using multi-disciplinary optimization tools and methods for joint studies with airframe partners and defense services.
  • The successful candidate will need to have learned or passion to learn engine cycle performance analysis, aircraft performance to support a wide range of engineering analyses, simulation development, and application.
  • Successful candidates must also have excellent written and oral communication skills to operate in a leadership capacity for technical problem resolution and engineering support to marketing and commercial strategies.
Growth opportunities include the development of advanced architecture definition for new products, technical leadership in PMDO, and leading statistical methods for engineering enabled aftermarket of existing products. The experience and skills developed in systems analysis assignment and aircraft economics are foundational to many of the leadership positions within the propulsion and aerospace business to develop strong analytical and problem solving skills needed to lead large teams that develop world class engines in a competitive marketplace.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 4-7 years of successful experience in a technical assignment within an Engineering organization OR
  • MS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 2-5 years of successful experience in a technical assignment within an Engineering organization OR
  • PhD degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with research experience in aircraft design or propulsion fields
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Competent in one or more of the following engineering disciplines:
    • Thermodynamics, gas dynamics, aerodynamics, statistics, and software design.
  • A working knowledge and practical experience with either aircraft design methods or propulsion system design is required. Strong communication, analytical skills, teaming skills, and the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment are required.
  • Professional experience in both engine and aircraft performance is preferred.
Education

  • MS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 2-5 years of successful experience in a technical assignment within an Engineering organization OR
