The Valve CIPT is the component team leader. The CIPT is responsible for the execution of the program and understanding all team resources required to meet all component milestones and product development objectives.

Design Reviews – Responsible for insuring the multifunctional team meets all entrance criteria prior to holding Design Reviews and guarantees the closure of all action items from the reviews. These reviews include:

Design Concept Assessment Review

Component Preliminary Design Review (C2)

Component Final Design Review (C3)

Technology Readiness Level (TRL) – Responsible for guiding the multifunctional team through the evaluation of product’s TRL level and execution of any required TRL plans to attain appropriate TRL per Program requirements.

Component Development Schedule – Responsible for creating, owning and flowing to the team, a detailed MS Project schedule which accurately represents all activities required to ensure all Program and product development milestones are met.

Status to Leadership – Responsible for timely reporting of component team’s progress, challenges and solution strategies to the Program and Business Unit leadership.

Product Requirements – Ensure all requirements necessary to support design activities are included in the Program provided product specification. Manage the product’s compliance assessment against the requirements including the assignment of verification methods and closure of any requirement deviations.

Risk Management – Ensure all component risks are identified and appropriate mitigation plans developed and executed.

Financial Performance – The Valve CIPT is responsible for allocating and managing the component development budget. Financial reporting includes regular reports on the financial status of the component program against the baseline estimate through the use of Performance Index Reports (PIR), generating cost and schedule variance reports and creation of recovery plans.

Certification Program - Ownership of all component certification activities including:

• Authoring of the component’s certification documentation including acceptance test procedure (ATP), Qualification Test Procedure (QTP), Qualification by Similarity or Analysis (QSAR) and Qualification Test Report (QTR).

• Execution of the certification tests including oversight of test setup fabrication, Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), test execution, and post test data reduction and analysis for compliancy to the test plan’s procedure and success criteria.

• Evaluation and documentation of any component performance anomalies.

• Management of other test engineers performing certification tests.

Design Definition - Support Design in the creation of all design definition documents (drawings and reports) and manage the hand-off of design definition to drafting and procurement.

Standard Work – Responsible for loading evidence for all Project and Development standard work activities. Responsible for ensuring all supporting functional areas load evidence and receive approval of their standard work.

Hardware Procurement – Establish the project’s component hardware requirements and ensure appropriate procurement activities are initiated and maintained in order to guarantee all hardware delivery milestones are met.

Entry Into Service (EIS) – The Valve CIPT provides support of any issues that develop after the component enters into service.

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong ownership of and commitment to program and business unit objectives.
  • Understanding of mechanical assemblies.
  • Understanding of EVMS principles.


  • Experience leading multi-disciple team.
  • Earned Value (EV) management experience.
  • Experience evaluating program risks and developing risk mitigation plans.
  • Experience with mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong mastery of MS Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Education: BS degree in Engineering discipline required.
