Description: Description About the Position:
The National Grid Cyber Intelligence and Analysis programis part of the Cyber Security Operations within Digital Risk and Security andis responsible for providing indications and warning of suspected cyber-attacksdirected against National Grid facilitated by various threat actors. The Cyber Intelligence Data Scientist will provide analysis to understand, quantify, and predictthe actions of threat actors to National Grid. The role will contribute to the analystsof cyber threats to National Grid, the threat actors associated and theirmotivation, capability and intent in order that Cyber Security Operations andNational Grid can appropriately assign resources and systems for their defense.The Cyber Intelligence Data Scientist will contribute to the daily threat analysis, collaboratewith core threat and security teams, and produce actionable intelligence in theform of alerts, reports, and briefings. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Assisting with theanalysis to ensure key cyber threats are identified, addressed and resolved ina manner that satisfies the business. Producing variousintelligence alerts, reports, and briefings. Provide intelligence analysis support based on KeyIntelligence Topics . You will generat e specific intelligence requirements based on theseTopics/Questions to create specific collection plans used tofocus the analysis and reporting actionable intelligence. Main Interfaces: Interfacingwith US and UK Cyber Intelligence, Analysis, Penetration Testing, and AdvancedAdversary operational teams. Collaboratingwith US and UK CSOC staff consisting of security operations, incidentmanagement, forensics, and threat hunting teams. Interacting with other members within theDigital Risk and Security Cyber Security Operations organization.
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required:
Educated to degree levelor post graduate level (equivalent combination of education and experience) inCyber Intelligence or Security related subject. Scripting and statisticalsoftware knowledge, such as Python, R, SQL, or other statistical/ML software. Knowledge ofnetwork and web related protocols (e.g. DNS, TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP/S, BGPand other routing protocols) Theposition requires disciplined thinker, capable of working across organisationalboundaries in a demanding environment to analyse cyber threats that could impactthe National Grid infrastructure and services of customers. Visualizeinformation, using a moderate range of tools, scripts and algorithms, createexplanatory and predictive models, and conduct comparative and alternativeanalysis to address complex intelligence challenges. Requiresdemonstrable capability to assisting in the production of intelligence productsat Strategic, Operational and Tactical levels, and conducting analysis. Goodorganisational skills, time management, attention to detail and accuracy overmultiple simultaneous activities. Mustbe pro-active, adaptable and results driven, whilst capable of interpreting anddelivering on direction provided. Theposition requires a team player who must be able to work under pressure, managemultiple activities, using their own initiative and motivation to meetdeadlines and set priorities without close supervision. Supportthe other team members to enriched intelligence analysis and reporting. Strongwriting and presentation skills to communicate findings and recommendations todifferent audiences and stakeholders.
