Responsible for managing and dispatching a fleet of multiple sub-contracted transportation vendors to facilitate the safe, efficient and compliant flow of waste from Covanta Transfer Stations to an array of Covanta and third party owned disposal sites. Responsible for the proper tracking and reconciliation of transportation and disposal tracking sheets and invoice reconciliation. Responsible for ensuring the proper, safe and compliant operation, maintenance and administration of multi-faceted Covanta owned or operated Transfer Stations and / or associated operating units, through management of and interaction with Covanta Transfer Station employees, sub-contracted operators and waste transporters as well as interaction with, regional and corporate management and support personnel. Work with Transfer Station management team and employees to leverage resources and maximize efficiency of the Covanta Transfer Stations. Work with appropriate facility, area, regional and corporate accounting staff to ensure accurate and timely budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting of the Covanta Transfer Stations. Develop long term strategic plans, relationships and partnerships to increase the value delivered to Covanta through the operation of the Covanta Transfer Stations. Operate the Covanta Transfer Stations under a culture of innovation and constant improvement.

Responsible for management of Sub contracted truck and rail transportation vendors servicing multiple Covanta Transfer Stations to ensure smooth and consistent movement and processing of daily waste deliveries 40%

Responsible for supporting safe daily operation and maintenance of a Covanta Transfer Stations while ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal rules, regulations, laws and permits 30%

Responsible for the proper tracking and reconciliation of transportation and disposal tracking sheets and invoice reconciliation 15%

Responsible for active input, communication and oversight of monthly forecast process and annual budget process for the Covanta Transfer Station assets 5%

Responsible for interaction and communication with Covanta efw facility teams to ensure smooth efficient processing and return of all Transportation assets to ensure efficient operations of Covanta Transfer Station 5%

Responsible for interaction with Regional Management team and Business Management team in developing and executing long term strategic plans regarding over all presence and strategy within a specific market area 5%

The position requires an individual having at least five (5) years’ progressive solid waste or transportation and logistics experience, including progressive experience in the day-to-day operation of a state permitted solid waste transfer facility, as well as progressive experience in transfer station operating policies and procedures and environmental and permit compliance.

An undergraduate degree is desirable, however hands on operating experience and training is acceptable

Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form

Ability to effectively lead team members to effect a common goal

Understanding of the market impact and company interaction of Covanta Transfer Stations and other market based Covanta facilities

Sufficient experience and expertise to effectively work with regional Management and Business Management teams in order to develop long term strategic plans

Familiarity and proficiency with Word, Excel, Power Point and other associated reporting and operating systems.


Position requires ability to lift up to fifty (50) lbs

Position requires ability to sit or stand for extended periods

Position requires ability to travel between multiple Covanta operating locations based in and around the greater Boston , MA area


Position requires frequently operating in all environments associated with the operation of a solid waste transfer facility. Including working in or around large equipment and trucks.

Position can require intermittent exposure to outdoor operating conditions and inclement weather.
