We are seeking an Electronics Technologist to fulfill an important role within the Mk21 Fuze Systems Department to support development and test activities in the integration of the new Arming and Fuzing Assembly (AFA) into the Mk21 reentry vehicle. This particular role focuses around assembly, documentation, and maintenance of several custom system testers which will determine functional and electrical compatibility of the AFA with the warhead and missile.

Everyday tasks/responsibilities include the following:

+ Assemble System Cables: Build cables according to pinout schedules, assembly drawings and build specifications. Assembly activities include wire splicing, wire-to-connector soldering and encapsulation, application of EMI shielding and outer sleeving. Develop custom potting molds, backshell and connector orientation. Conduct and document acceptance tests.
+ Assemble Equipment Racks: Effectively and efficiently organize, mount, and label electrical test equipment, cabling, and interconnects within equipment rack.
+ Assemble Printed Circuit Boards (PCB): Solder surface-mount and/or thru-hole components to PCBs. Conduct and document acceptance tests.
+ Assemble Electrical Enclosures: Mount PCBs, route internal wiring and cabling, mount connectors. Work with machine shop to implement enclosure modifications.
+ Document acceptance test reports. Work with drafting dept. to develop, release and maintain assembly drawings.
+ Work with engineers to address design issues and concerns, communicate build status, support design reviews/meetings.
+ Work with a large team of people across different agencies on an exciting, fast-paced, multi-year, multi-million dollar program.

Required:



+ High school diploma with at least three years' relevant electrical experience.
+ Ability to travel 15%.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a US DOE Q security clearance.

Desired:

+ A U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent
+ Knowledge and experience with cable production and assembly
+ Knowledge and experience with National Instruments Equipment
+ Knowledge and experience with PCB boards, including soldering and testing
+ Ability to document system tester configuration
+ Knowledge and experience in working on products for military applications
+ Strong interpersonal skills
+ Ability to work efficiently within a team environment
+ Ability to apply knowledge and ideas to solve engineering problems
+ Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly to other team members



The Mk21 Fuze Systems Department is part of the Sandia/California Weapons Systems Engineering Center, responsible for assuring the safety, reliability, and security of U.S. nuclear weapons. The department has the specific responsibility for the systems engineering and integration, qualification, and deployment of a new Arming and Fuzing Assembly (AFA) for the Mk21 Air Force reentry vehicle and will reach production in 2022. This is a large, well established program that is currently in full scale engineering development.
