Tagliatela College of Engineering

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering in the Tagliatela College of Engineering (TCoE) at the University of New Haven invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in mechanical engineering. The expected starting date is August 20, 2018

Required qualifications: Earned Ph.D. in an engineering or science discipline; the ability to teach engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate level; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to work as a contributing and collegial member of a team; and authorization to work in the U.S. Teaching experience is strongly preferred, and industry experience will be considered favorably

Primary responsibilities: Teaching undergraduate and graduate mechanical engineering courses including mechanical engineering laboratory courses, and multidisciplinary engineering foundation courses. The successful candidate will be expected to build a research program which complements the research strengths in the department and college and that engages undergraduate and master's students. Engineering education research is also valued. Scholarly publications and grant writing to establish funded research is expected. The successful candidate will be expected to perform service to benefit the program, college and university and will report to the chair of the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department

Program Profile: The department comprises 12 full time tenured/tenure track faculty, including 7 in mechanical engineering. In addition to teaching, faculty are involved in disciplinary, interdisciplinary and engineering education scholarly activities, including renewable energy, structural and fluid mechanics, and mechatronics. The BSME and MSME degree programs have enrollments of about 200 and 50, respectively
