The Systems Optimization Project Engineer is a technical engineering role in Advanced Programs and Technology (AP&T) at Pratt & Whitney. The Project Engineer in AP&T will be responsible for leading and driving the identification of innovative concepts for disruptive new propulsion concepts and integrated air cycle systems. To that end, the Project Engineer will be responsible for engaging engineering disciplines, UTC divisions, universities, and government labs and for ing cross discipline design exploration methodologies.

The Project Engineer will have responsibility for integrating design tools into automated design exploration workflows to assess system level metrics of innovative propulsion concepts and highlight critical integration opportunities among the engine, airframe and interfacing systems. The Project Engineer will be integral in formulating system level design problems, defining exploration strategies, and interrogating large simulation data sets to assess system level trades. The Project Engineer will be part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team comprised of engineering discipline experts and aircraft system and subsystem partners to balance aerodynamics, durability, operability and other systems design considerations with the total propulsion needs.

This role provides regular visibility to internal senior leadership as well as external government and airframe customers. The position will influence business and configuration strategies that P&W will use to grow its leadership position in both military and commercial aerospace.

Qualification: Candidates require a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant industry experience in military and/or commercial aerospace. Candidates should have strong creative thinking skills and a passion for learning and discovery. Candidates should have a strong multi-disciplinary optimization background and experience working with design exploration techniques such as DOE and optimization strategies. Preferred candidates would include those that have experience with Isight or equivalent tools. Candidates need to have exceptional communication skills, demonstrated team leadership and quality project management skills. An interest and ability to coach and mentor others is also desirable.

Education: A M.S. Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is the minimum requirement. Candidates with an advanced degree in Engineering and/or research specialization are encouraged to .
