Description: Description About the Position:
The Supply Chain Materials Planner will provide analytical support functions to ensure that inventory materials are planned, ordered, received, maintained, and controlled in compliance with appropriate Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Safety, Environmental, and other Corporate Standards. The Supply Chain Materials Planner will perform all necessary reporting and data management for inventory materials. At the higher levels this role will also design and implement procedures and policies within their area of work to improve the working of National Grid, and to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements. This position will be based out of National Grid’s Waltham MA office and will require 25% travel requirements across National Grid US service territory.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Perform analysis and management of inventory levels, demand; re-order points, min/max levels, master data, consumption trends, and other operational/procurement considerations to ensure the continuous flow of inventory materials to the respective warehouses – with a focus on the right materials, in the right quantity, at the right time, to the right place. Goal is to achieve zero stock-outs, high fill rates, and optimal inventory levels. Provide all aspects of materials management related to process and systems expertise, including business support of inventory systems and technology hardware, ad-hoc and routine reporting, and end user training. Creation, processing, and delivering new Shopping Carts/Purchase Requests to Procurement in compliance with recorded lead time, order minimum, and order multiple requirements as reflected in SAP Material Master Data Records Coordination with Procurement on creation, processing, and delivering of new Shopping Carts/Purchase Requests that are not compliant with recorded lead time, order minimum, and order requirements as reflected in Material Master Data records. Follow up and coordination with Material Expeditors for overdue, late, or expected deliveries Coordination with Master Data Team to ensure appropriate setup of inventory material items and ID’s. Oversight of PAR/Freebin material levels and coordination with WM staff to ensure efficient replenishment process from the CDC’s Provide support, participatory, and lead roles into new, innovative technologies and processes in materials management that will improve the efficiency and total cost of ownership for materials used at National Grid. Independently collate and analyze work unit and/or financial data within one or multiple areas using pre-determined tools, methods and formats in order to support the department’s decision making process. Maintain and provide information such as regulatory information in order to ensure regulators and other stakeholders are kept up to date with relevant National Grid policies, processes and programs. Monitor and review financial information, updating where necessary in order to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to up to date and accurate information. Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to obtain and share information that will benefit National Grid. Manage the day to day relationship with relevant internal parties or employees in order to understand their requirements, deliver appropriate, customized solutions and advice, and build cross-functional working in line with National Grid policies and processes. Assist and coordinate work on projects by contributing to developing project standards and processes to improve project delivery within the relevant function. Develop and maintain analytical systems, models and procedures in order to support design solutions and enhance time/consistency/safety/efficiency and operability.

Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: A Bachelor's degree in a business or engineering related area and up to 5 years of related experience, or equivalent work experience. An advanced degree/credits is preferred. Supervisory or experience managing a team is preferred. Knowledge and experience in material requirements planning, inventory management, warehousing, accounting, and/or procurement. Must be able to work in a metrics-driven organization, with a focus on continuous improvement. Hands-on experience with JIT, Lean, and/or TQM principles is highly desirable. Experience with SAP and specifically knowledge with SAP Material Requirements Planning modules. SAP purchase requisition (PR) creation, approval, and delivery functionality and processes SAP material reorder point planning functionality and processes including reorder point calculation, reorder lot sizes, reorder lot multiple sizes, engineering change notice (ECN) incorporation, and other relevant SAP reorder point planning settings Knowledge of National Grid's business operations, company policies, work practices, regulatory requirements, and local legislation. Knowledge or Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements and cycle counting principals. Proficient in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
