Description: Description About the Position: Supervise, plan, coordinate and direct a team under the Accounts Payable operations to achieve levels of quality, performance and supplier/employee satisfaction consistent with the Company goal of providing a cost efficient and reliable service while maintaining its operational integrity.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Supervise a culturally diverse workforce through coaching, counseling and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner. Monitor performance of allocated staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline and poor standards of work in order to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and effectively and feedback is given timely. Review and monitor the work of others; providing technical guidance when required, to ensure accuracy and timeliness of information. Monitor relevant Accounts Payable/Procure to Pay processes in order to identify opportunities for improvement. Develop a climate providing motivation, participation and opportunities for employee initiative. Execute instructions and requests, plan and organize resources and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and in line with relevant policies, processes and key control established by the department (including SOX, etc.) Monitor all Service Level targets and Key Performance Indicators to ensure compliance. Pro-actively research, produce, monitor and analyze policy or other information to enable analysis of key themes and trends specifically related to the areas of Accounts Payable. Building a team environment, setting expectations to improve work performance and ensure employees are complying with policies and procedures and standards set forth by regulatory bodies. Oversee the operational workload of an allocated team within Accounts Payable ensuring allocated staff is fully utilized in order to deliver against agreed program of work. Implement procedural best practice in order to ensure all working practice (and where relevant, health and safety standards) are compliant with National Grid policies and regulatory requirements. Manage the day to day relationship with relevant internal parties or employees in order to understand their requirements, deliver appropriate, customized solutions and advice, and build cross-functional working in line with SDC and Accounts Payable Team policies and processes Translate functional policy by designing procedures that drive greater efficiencies and performance within their own team and for National Grid. Additional Responsibilities for Band E: Band E employees are expected to deliver on the accountabilities listed above as well as those listed below. Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance and/or equivalent work experience or business support experience. Experience in leading a team of individuals. Strong knowledge and working experience with SAP Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products, including Power Point, Word and Excel. Ability to translate complex data requests into robust and optimized solutions In-depth knowledge of the Procure-to-Pay and Accounts Payable Processes. Demonstrated ability to formulate and implement business processes and strategies with only general direction. Knowledge/experience with PEX framework (hubs, CPS’s, Blueprints, focused efforts, etc) Detail oriented and be a creative problem solver Results oriented with a focus on customers satisfaction Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, analytical skills, problem solving and decision making capabilities, and interpersonal skills. Ability to take ownership of an assignment and progress independently to meet deadlines with accuracy; highly motivated to see task through to completion when faced with obstacles This position has a career path which provides for promotional opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. The selected candidate will move laterally at their current band and market reference point and will not be eligible for a promotion at the time of accepting this position.
