UTC Aerospace Systems has an immediate opening for a staff software engineer in the Systems Software team in Westford Massachusetts. This position supports the development of a new generation of reconnaissance systems. The candidate will participate in the entire software lifecycle for the program: requirements, design, development, test, and hardware integration. The candidate should have strong design skills and the ability to develop C /C++ software following secure coding practices. Experience developing database schemas and geospatial applications is highly desired. The candidate must have strong team leadership, and communication skills and be effective in a collaborative work environment. Travel within the US and overseas will be required to support integration and tests at customer sites.

Qualifications
  • Strong design skills required
  • Experience following secure coding practices desired
  • Experience developing in Linux environments required
  • Experience developing in Solaris or Windows environments a plus
  • Strong test and debugging skills required
  • Experience with the entire software lifecycle is desired
  • Strong communication and team leadership skills required
  • Up to 20% travel is required
  • Experience with military mission support highly desired
  • US Citizen/Ability to obtain DOD secret security clearance
  • BA/BS degree w/6–0+ years experience
  • MA/MS degree w/4–+ years experience
Education Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or comparable required; Master’s Degree in an engineering discipline preferred.
