This position is for our Aerostructures facility, located in Riverside, California, which comprises approximately 1.2m square feet of manufacturing, assembly and storage space. The facility specializes in metal and composite bonding, automation, paint and processing, assembly, perforation technology and precision machining and contains numerous labs conducting R&D activities.The Riverside facility manufactures and assembles components of nacelle systems for large commercial, regional and military aircraft; supporting annual revenue of approximate annual sales of $2.4B.


Job Description

The Quality Engineer will act as Quality interface to provide expertise between the organization and its customers to proactively assure that their quality needs and expectations are understood and satisfied. Provide support to the Supply Chain Management organization relative to the collection and analysis of supplier quality data. Provide expertise in Quality Assurance and process improvement tools and methods. Execute the initiatives of the organization in the development, implementation and improvement of the appropriate Quality Management systems throughout the operation. Develop, implement and auditing of inspection and test plans, standards and acceptance criteria, and procedures / work instructions. Facilitate the investigation and elimination of causes of quality problems and follow-up on corrective actions. Develop and analyze statistical data and product / process performance and to recommend and implement improvements in targeted areas of the organization. Provide support in the way of development and evaluation of process capability, process control plans, analysis of out-of-control conditions, and process audits with the objective of improving the process performance and capability. Participate in all aspects of product development and launch activities through the organization to help ensure quality goals are met on new nacelle development programs.

  • Responsible for several components of a project or a complex component of a larger project.
  • Contributes to the team or department by ing his/her knowledge of one or more functional areas.
  • Fully developed professional able to work without direct guidance or direction from others.
  • Has in depth knowledge of the discipline and role.
  • Responsible for Quality procedures, Internal Inspections, and Suppliers.
  • Will have up to five (5) direct reports.
Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Experience with QA systems such as AS9100,ISO, Conducting Audits, Being able to manage Rejection Tags and Corrective Action is a requirement
    Proven track record of understanding and managing First Article Inspections (FAI) is also a requirement.
  • Self motivated with a passion for QA and proven problem solving ability.
  • Prior leadership experience.
  • CAD software experience: Inventor, SolidWorks, Pro-E or CATIA is preferred but not required.
  • Six sigma experience or LEAN, knowledge of Lean Product Development (LPD) and Continuous Improvement (CI) is preferred but not required; including experience working within an environment that embraces the daily use of these tools. Enhance and support teamwork.
  • Strong PC skills with proficiency in the following MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Project or project Management Software.

Due to ITAR, all applicants must be a US Citizen or a current Green Card holder.

Education
  • BA/BS Engineering degree w/6- 10+ years experience
  • MA/MS Engineering degree w/4 - 7+ years experience
  • PhD Engineering degree w/2 - 4+ years experience.
