The open position is for an Engine Services, Fleet Powerplant Engineer (FPPE) responsible for the management of overhauls performed on Fleet Management Programs covered customer fleets. The Fleet Powerplant Engineer function supports the Fleet Technical Manager, who is responsible for the technical management of FHA, FMP & MMP fleets in order to minimize maintenance cost while improving interval and reliability.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Supporting the Engine Services, Fleet Technical Manager in developing the cross functional team with the engine center to insure smooth operational execution, continuous improvement in shop visit cost and in time on wing.
  • Establishing and effectively communicating engine shop visit requirements.
  • Coordinating with engine centers to insure effective implementation of workscope specifications, configuration requirements and specific engine shop maintenance instructions.
  • Working with the Fleet Technical Manager to identify and manage emerging issues, as well as the assessment and mitigation of technical risks to minimize interval and cost impacts through:
  • Maintenance planning including shop visit workscopes
  • Evaluation of hardware teardown conditions for potential, limit increases, part repair development or part redesign
  • Invoice deconstruction/trending/findings assessment – identification of cost drivers
  • Business case development – impact to financials
  • Service bulletin technical/business assessment
  • Provide shop visit technical support in order to limit workscope expansion
  • Provide timely resolution of technical or business questions/issues the shop may have on specific engine or program requirements
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with 6-10+ years of relevant engineering work experience OR
  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline with 4-7+ years of relevant engineering work experience OR
  • Doctoral degree in an engineering discipline with 2-4+ years of relevant engineering work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with engine overhaul processes, engine hardware, assembly, operation, and testing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Engine Manuals, Service Bulletins, and AD notes
  • Experience in one or more of the following: powerplant, project, test, design, process or analytical engineering
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with 6-10+ years of relevant engineering work experience OR
  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline with 4-7+ years of relevant engineering work experience OR
  • Doctoral degree in an engineering discipline with 2-4+ years of relevant engineering work experience.
