Provide structures analytical support for military programs, with responsibility for the durability and structural integrity of gas-turbine cold-section components. This includes compressor airfoils, rotors & shafts, cases and actuation linkage systems. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide cradle-to-grave analytical support and technical leadership, from preliminary & detailed design, through development, validation, certification, manufacturing and operational service.
  • Organize and lead multi-discipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost and weight.
  • Identify, plan, cover and support validation testing (engine & rig), data reduction and interpretation of results.
  • Lead and support production and in-service field investigations
  • Identify the appropriate finite-element and classical methods and perform strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, damage tolerance, containment, kinematic and optimization analyses.

Provide technical guidance and direction for discipline teams to complete analytical tasks.

  • Coordinate with others to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods.
  • Identify task conclusions and recommendations. Document and present results to management and external customers.
  • Lead technical teams of engineers, including analysts at outsource vendors. Function as deputy to F135 Structures Supervisor, providing technical guidance, task priority, review and approval of work for discipline practitioners.
