The Environmental Science group at United Technologies Research Center has an exciting opportunity for a talented experimentalist chemical engineer with electrochemical background to join the Electrochemical Systems team. This team is currently conducting research on fuel cells, electrolyzers, redox flow batteries, electrochemical gas compression and sensors.

Strong hands-on hardware/system and laboratory experience is required as the primary responsibilities include the planning and execution of laboratory (bench-scale) tests, designing & overseeing the building of test stands with advanced fully automated data acquisition systems, performing design of experiments, analyzing the results and synthesizing the outcomes into timely, accurate, and detailed technical reports and presentations. This will include directing the work of technicians and junior engineers. This individual should demonstrate strong leadership skills, and will have the opportunity to provide assistance to the senior engineering staff, will prepare research plans and proposals and to become a principal investigator. Qualification: Candidates with Master’s Degree should have at least 8 years of experience in an industrial environment while those with a Ph.D. at least 5 years of experience in an industrial environment. The candidate should master the fundamentals of chemical engineering (transport phenomena, reaction engineering, flows, and reactor design and unit operations), have a solid electrochemical background and have a proven record of technical accomplishments. This position in addition to demonstration of leadership potential it also requires demonstration of strong expertise in electrochemical laboratory testing methods, building of fully automated testing stands, temperature, pressure and flow instrumentation and controls software, preferably this would include experience with LabView, and gas analysis methods like gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. A U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card holder) is required.
Education: Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering. The preferred candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
