Position Overview

This position supports multiple departments at the UTAS Lighting System Phoenix site including: Production, Procurement, Product Support, Scheduling, Quality, and External Customers. The responsible individual participates in engineering support activities in all of these areas, provides technical expertise, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance to company, customer and government standards

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ideal candidate would be able to perform the following responsibilities with limited oversight and have a bias for self-initiated problem resolution
  • Balances multiple deliverables to operations personnel in a fast paced environment
  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate level of communication with operations support staff for example cell supervisor, quality engineers, engineers and production operators
  • Works with cross functional teams on projects such as ergonomic improvements, cost savings and process/product continuous improvements
  • Drives advancement and improvement of cell operations by ing lean manufacturing principles and functioning as a leader of change in identifying opportunities for process improvements and leading Kaizen events.
  • Prepares and presents key production results to multiple levels of management.
  • Supports a high volume of product lines in operations to maintain product flow by:

- Providing technical assistance to production operators

- Clarifies and corrects work instructions as necessary

- Investigates and resolves electrical production problems

- Ensures that production personnel have the necessary

documents and tools required to build quality products

- Controls manufacturing documentation including BOM’s and

Routings

  • Ownership for maintaining and improving manufacturing standards

- Initiates engineering change notices in the ME area and reviews technical merit of the changes along with FAA and customer compliance


Qualification:

Experience/Qualifications

Lean Manufacturing experience

SAP Knowledge


Education:

Education / Certifications

Required:

  • BS Degree in a technical discipline ideally Electrical Engineering
  • 4-7 years’ experience with BS Degree or 2-5 years’ experience with a Master’s
