The Mechanical Systems, Externals and Nacelles (MSEN) is looking for a senior heat transfer engineer to support bearing compartment thermal design and analysis for commercial and military engine programs.

The senior engineer is responsible for carrying out thermal assessment of bearing compartment hardware (e.g., bearing, housing, seals, service tubes and interfacing lube-system components), including required design iterations and communicating results across IPT/CIPT teams. The responsibilities also include thorough understanding of design/analysis inputs from across the module-center/IPT teams, demonstrate expertise in MSEN thermal design process and tools, application of ACE principles (e.g., statistical variability) to robust design process and formal presentation of results in discipline/program reviews. The senior engineer also provides mentoring support to less experienced engineers in the team, identifies process improvement opportunities for increased productivity and deliverables quality.


Qualification: Minimum 3 years of relevant gas turbine thermal design/analysis experience is required. High-level familiarity with commercial and military aircraft engine lube system components would be useful. The ability to obtain US government security clearance to support sensitive projects is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

5-7 years of aircraft engine systems engineering background, including six-sigma methods, would be helpful to carry out all the responsibilities for the position. Prior professional experience in aircraft engine lube system design/analysis would add value.



Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent. M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering with fluid-thermal science background would be a plus.
