The UTAS-SIS Technology Organization announces an opening for a Senior Electrical Engineering position to support its role in advancing the state of the art technology in sensors and sensor systems. The UTAS-SIS Technology organization provides advanced research and development to support UTAS’ mission of offering an extensive range of products, systems and services for aircraft and engine manufacturers, airlines, and defense forces around the world. The UTAS-SIS Technology organization is a source of strategic technologies for innovative new sensors and sensor systems throughout the enterprise.

The successful candidate will have an appropriate mix of educational background and practical experience in electrical/electronic engineering with emphasis on analog/digital circuit design. Other background and experience in mixed signal circuit design, RF electronics and antenna, high-speed electronics, low noise circuits, optical circuit design, power supply design and feedback control systems is a plus.

The Senior Electrical Engineer will have the background, experience, and skill to perform the following tasks:

  • Design signal conditioning circuits, amplifiers, filters, modulation/demodulation circuits, oscillators, mixers, ADC/DAC converters, sensor interface circuits, and power supplies to support advanced sensor research and development activities.
  • Generate circuit design schematics, layouts, printed circuit boards (PCB) using CAD tools.
  • Model and simulate analog/digital circuits using simulation tools such as PSpice, MATLAB/SIMULINK, ALLEGRO, and ModelSim
  • Implement hardware prototypes and breadboards and test them in the lab environment.
  • Independently create and implement new and innovative electronic circuit design concepts, and research advanced concepts and applications of state of the art electronic design technology and solutions to support advanced sensor technology development in response to customer, and business needs.
  • Generate high quality specifications, reports, publications, presentations and proposals.
  • Effectively present technical ideas and progress reports to peers, customers, and management.
  • Work within a team of multidisciplinary engineers to complete projects on schedule within budget for a specific customer.
  • Have the ability to understand, capture, and document customer and user requirements and translate them to technical solutions.

Beneficial Additional Background:

  • Design RF circuits, high speed electronics, and low noise amplifiers
  • Design feed-forward and feedback control circuits and system/signal compensation electronics.

This position will be based in Burnsville, MN.


Qualification: Successful candidate will possess or demonstrate the ability to learn the following experience/skills:
  • Strong hands-on electrical engineering background/experience.
  • Working knowledge of electrical/electronic design, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of RTCA DO-254 process is a plus.
Successful candidates will have 4-7 years of relevant experience is required. Advanced degree is a plus.
Education:

The position requires a candidate with a minimum of a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or closely related field
