Description: Description About the Position: The Inclusion and Diversity Specialist will develop, implement and monitor programs that promote I&D within the National Grid. The Specialist is responsible for creating awareness throughout the organization to foster an open and inclusive working environment for everyone. The Specialist will serve as the HR ombudsman for inclusion and diversity.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Develop Inclusion and Diversity policies and programs to attract, retain and promote a diverse workforce for the organization. Develop and support Employee Resource Groups to increase membership engagement and provide value to employees and the organization. Partner with Director and relevant stakeholders to build and execute inclusion and diversity strategy for US business. Determine the appropriateness of introducing inclusion and diversity initiatives and consider the unique needs of the organization. Strengthen leadership capability around inclusion and diversity via multiple interventions including but not limited to workshops to educate employees and managers on how to recognize, accommodate and appreciate individual differences and how these can be bridged back to assist in meeting company business plans. Keep current on diversity programs and developments by maintaining contact with others in the field (e.g., professional association and educational groups, and professional development efforts). The scope of responsibilities within Inclusion and Diversity includes the following activities: o Inclusion and Diversity Strategy and Policy Design o Inclusion and Diversity Programs o Inclusion and Diversity Training
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: Bachelor’s Degree; or equivalent experience required Minimum of 7+ years’ work experience in an HR or Inclusion and Diversity role, or combination of both Inclusion and Diversity related skills, with a track record of addressing the talent needs for the organization through a diverse workforce General experience related to key Inclusion and Diversity practices Adept at working and influencing HR Business Partners and Business Leaders, facilitating change, implementing strategy and accomplishing Inclusion and Diversity objectives Strong subject matter knowledge related to Inclusion and Diversity Strong internal consulting, analytical and business acumen Excellent verbal and written communication skills Commitment and passion to Inclusion and Diversity Ability to multi-task on a variety of initiatives Demonstrates confidence, credibility, good judgment and decision making This position is one of National Grid’s career path roles which provide for promotional opportunities within and across salary bands as you develop and evolve in the position by gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
