We are seeking a Solutions Architect

On any given day, you may be called on to:

? Characterize and analyze operational ("as-built") enterprise network device configurations, topologies, and architectures.

? Analyze and compare/contrast candidate ("as-designed") enterprise network topologies and architectures.

? Characterize enterprise network requirements, designs, and implementations through formal/informal, written/oral, in-person/remote interactions with customer representatives;

? Create new understandings and capabilities by using evaluation techniques, critical review, experimentation, and engineering research & development methods.

? Evaluate and assess vulnerabilities that occur in complex, large-scale enterprise networks.

? Collaborate with sponsor & industry partners; understand real-world threats to propose, plan, conduct, or manage research and development.

? Prepare and deliver written and oral technical work products to technical audiences;

? Perform engineering or research tasks independently or with cross-functional teams.

? Learn new skills and expand your capabilities; apply nontraditional, creative thinking to address our nation?s most challenging cybersecurity challenges.



? Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems and Technology, or other relevant technical discipline;

? Five to seven years of relevant experience in characterizing, analyzing, designing, implementing, and administering enterprise IP networks;

? Experience with configuring and administering Microsoft Windows, UNIX, and Linux operating systems.

? Demonstrated ability to configure and administer enterprise-grade networking equipment (e.g., switches, routers, firewalls, IDS/IPS, load balancers) from a variety of vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Arista, F5).

? Ability to obtain and maintain US DOE Q and SCI clearances.


? Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant discipline.

? Active or recently expired professional-level network certification (e.g., CCNP Routing and Switching, CCNP Security, JNCIP Enterprise Routing and Switching, JNCIP Security).

? Intermediate-level experience and familiarity with IPv6, software-defined networking, virtualization technologies, multicast, and VoIP.

? Familiarity with vendor hardening guides, industry security best practices, and secure technical implementation guides.

? Familiarity with auditing, certification, and accreditation mechanisms for government and/or military systems.

? Strong basis in documentation, configuration management, and change control, both as an implementer and consumer.

? Additional industry-recognized information systems security credentials (e.g., CISSP, OSCP, CEH).

? Strong analytical, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills.

? Willingness and ability to travel at up to 25% time based on team work load.

? Current US Government security clearance desired, preferably DOE Q and SCI clearances.

The Cyber Physical Security Department is a forward-looking security risk management team of experts that analyze existing and future security architectures and technologies, and develop next generation methods and tools to improve the security effectiveness and assurance of our nation's critical systems. Security Clearance:

Position requires a SCI security clearance.

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test.
