The ideal candidate will manage the development of new and sustain existing control systems for residential heating and cooling units. This individual will also be responsible for working with the equipment teams to develop the product strategy for these controls.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the product development process for various types of electronic controls and associated product content, such as user interfaces, per CCS’s defined product development process
  • Work with the cross-functional product development teams, marketing, manufacturing, service, supply chain, and finance to develop integrated project plans and ensure delivery to agreed goals
  • Manage the on-time delivery of cost effective, high quality control systems that meet product roadmap commitments and, ultimately, the end consumer needs
  • Support the development and implementation of a controls strategy for communicating and non-communicating wall controls and equipment controls
  • Coordinate product development with the business unit product managers for controls
  • In concert with the wider controls engineering team within CCS and UTC, support the continual development of the controls strategy
  • Responsible for efficiently utilizing engineering, manufacturing and business unit resources to support the development of CCS’s heating and cooling unit controls and product strategy
  • Ensure the deliveries from a cross-functional / cross divisional development team; track and report against plan
  • Facilitate cross functional / cross divisional planning and issue resolution meetings
  • Accountable for project budget, staffing, and/or business/operational/quality results
  • Manage resource allocation across various controls projects
  • Identify and help clear organizational barriers impeding teams’ ability to successfully meet the project goals

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Responsible for entire projects with significant scope and complexity
  • Contributes to the department or business unit by ing advanced knowledge of one or more functional areas
  • May develop and coach others
  • Has expert knowledge that extends across multiple disciplines

Qualification:
  • Program Management certifications will be given strong consideration
  • Excellent communication skills are required as this position will support a diverse internal and external customer base
  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration between hardware, embedded firmware, and application software engineering in multiple locations (including overseas) is required
  • A minimum of 6 years product development experience for embedded controls, with at least 3 years of experience leading development teams
  • Strong influencing, negotiation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to operate from a big picture business perspective while still managing the technical project details
  • Performance management experience
  • A familiarity with HVAC products and Carrier products is desired
  • Competency with MS Project preferred

Education:

The ideal candidate will possess an Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering degree with practical experience as follows:

  • Bachelor's degree with 6 to 10 plus years of experience
  • Master's degree with 4 to 7 plus years of experience
  • PhD degree with 2 to 4 plus years of experience
