SUMMARY:
The SMT (surface mount technology) manufacturing engineer is responsible for leading customer-focused quality and process improvements for the Lincolnton manufacturing site.

  • Support daily production support for manufacturing and quality objectives.
  • Continuously monitors production processes and methods, analyzing production lot failures and customer returns and recommending remedial and/or corrective solutions.
  • Leads and drives continuous improvement actions with groups such as Quality, Lean/ACE, Cost Out and Transfer of Work in the SMT/ board build area.
  • Knowledge and exposure of IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and electronics assembly equipment
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Support NPI (New Product Introduction) into the facility including design reviews of products for manufacturability, production sample readiness for the facility, and presenting on production review process.
  • Responsibility for all technical documentation (ECO's, MPI's, WI's etc.), machine maintenance, processes, and upgrades for the board build area.
Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Recognized and established manufacturing shop experience preferred
  • Demonstrated Six Sigma experience preferred, including proven and qualified lean mentor
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills



EXPERIENCE:
  • 5-7 years’ experience in SMT and/or printed circuit board assembly processes
Education EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other related field, from an accredited university or college
  • SMTA certification is a plus

Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.
