The role of Shift Supervisor at Covanta Kent must foster an environment of Safety, Environmental Stewardship and a commitment to our customers. As a leadership role, this person must be able to direct his team through mentoring and coaching to develop excellence in the operation of an EfW facility. The Shift Supervisor will review, prioritize and direct the daily work activities of the operations group during his assigned shift. They will manage the functional activities of the Control Room Operator, Auxiliary Operator, Crane Operator, and the Utility Operator group to ensure quality and timeliness of independent decisions required to provide a world class safety environment and continuous service to our customers. Delineate and enforce the safety procedures and policies for the Operations Department and other support teams. Closely monitor the production and maintenance activities of the facility and assist in planning and executing both scheduled and unscheduled outage work as well as the timely completion of operating duties. Support the development of operating procedures and instructions; assist in the evaluation and development of recommendations for plant improvements. Confer with representatives of other departments in solving interrelated administrative, organizational and technical problems.

Requires a background in plant operations, including at least five (5) years experience in hands-on and /or supervision of power plant machinery. Ability to work shift work as required to support the staffing of the facility 24x7x365. While performing the duties of the job, frequent standing, walking, sitting, crouching, crawling and kneeling may be required. Other physical requirements include the ability to work in moderate extremes of temperature and humidity (hot or cold), work in confined spaces, work at elevations and wear a full face respirator. Experience with Moore control logic, Martin Stoker control panel, and CEM equipment is desirable as is experience as a Control Room Operator at a facility.
