Job Details

A Flight Test Engineering Manager is needed to support the NGPF PW1400G Compliance efforts on-site in Irkutsk, Russia. The Flight Test Engineering Manager is responsible for providing on-site technical propulsion support for our engines on-site to our customer. Knowledge of engine flight test, and engine maintenance is required to successfully provide technical support for this on-site role. Additional tasks involve identifying and coordinating engineering requirements for the successful completion of Compliance Flight Testing at the customer site in Russia. This flight test program is expected to last into 2020. Ownership for planning for engine maintenance, engine configuration upgrades, instrumentation installation, aircraft deployment activity and borescope inspections are essential. Technical leadership for aircraft / engine test briefings, and test reviews will be required to ensure engine safety and customer schedule needs. The candidate must have good communication skills, and the ability to work in a team environment. The candidate for this position will represent Pratt & Whitney as they interface directly with the customer on-site. The candidate will also provide feedback to, and work with the PW Program Manager, PW Chief Engineer & PW Flight Test Manager to help make informed high level decisions.

This position will also include management, providing direction and scheduling of personnel to cover all aspects of the engineering program. He/she will provide performance feedback to all SEV personnel on site, and to other engineering & technician disciplines onsite.


Education / Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering


Experience / Qualifications

  • Minimum of 12 years work experience with an engine flight test program (development or compliance/production)


  • Exposure to leading the engineering test team and communicating with the flight crew is required


  • Either on-board flight test engineer or exposure to a customer telemetry room test environment with a dedicated test director is required.


  • Knowledge of engine data analysis, engine limits & engine functionality


  • Ability to drive tasks to closure, and ensure all relative information is obtained to ensure correct execution
