Essential Functions

Initiates and facilitates internal and externally generated Process of Continuous Improvement (PCI) suggestions at the supplier and with Parker Engineering. Collaborates with Suppliers and Parker Engineering to improve supplier processes and product manufacturing risks quantified in dollars saved. Employs Project Management initiatives to drive PCI suggestions to closure. Executes delivery and quality improvements plans with suppliers to ensure delivery and quality requirements are met. Utilizes project management methods to complete improvement plans. Review supplier business operations, assess capacity and business health risks at key and proposed suppliers. Communicates Risks to internal customers. Helps generate strategies with internal teams based on team inputs. Leads and participates in requirement discussions with suppliers to support and mitigate work transfer risks. Provides statistical information for delivery and quality improvements by determining and applying statistical process control methods and criteria. Responsible to guide technical evaluations, analysis, and related data acquisition processes to ensure division delivery and quality objectives are achieved.

Major Duties

1. Develops and establishes supplier relationships through training and understanding of their capabilities. Communicates supplier capabilities to internal team to assist in work transfer, long term agreements and cost reduction activities. 2. Identifies delivery and quality performance, trends and corrective actions by coordinating with suppliers. Ensures compliance to specified contractual and drawing requirements by performing supplier audits and surveys. Develops and initiates programs to improve supplier performance. 3. Asses supplier operational capacity and machine capacity. Assess and evaluates supplier business operations for maturity and risks. Determines supplier core capability, growth potential and operational sustainability. 4. Refines and enhances products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to critical areas of a supplier’s production (PCI). 5. Provides input on delivery and quality to product development teams; recommends producibility improvements by facilitating process reviews, addressing technical data packages, manufacturing methods, equipment, tooling and training at the supplier (PCI). 6. Understands statistical process controls by reviewing and maintaining applicable control charts. Analyzes data by completing hypothesis, normal distribution, and process capability analysis tests. 7. Assesses delivery and quality performance (or cost-of-quality) using statistical and analytical methods. Devises and implements various statistical methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, reliability, and accuracy of products, processes, and production equipment at the supplier. 8. Prepares comprehensive reports by collecting, interpreting, analyzing, and summarizing data and making recommendations. Analyzes proposed changes in methods and materials. Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities. 9. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing industry networks, benchmarking state-of-the- art practices, maintaining American Society for Quality certification, and/or participating in other professional associations. 10. May provide leadership to others in department. Acts as prime contact on high level projects. Establishes goals, objectives, and metrics required to complete projects. Trains and mentors less experienced employees. 11. Shares specialized knowledge with others. Represents Company on high-level projects. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities (e.g. continuous improvement).

Qualifications

Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering or a related technical discipline. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through six or more years of related experience. American Society for Quality certification desired. Lean training desired. Six Sigma certification desired and will be required after start date. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough knowledge manufacturing processes of multiple commodities and quality engineering/assurance techniques, procedures, instruments, equipment, theories, principles and concepts and general business operations. Knowledge of aerospace industry or similar industry products and legal and regulatory requirements related to field. Ability to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement techniques to quality and manufacturing functions. Ability to use standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools. Ability to work on a variety of problems of diverse scope and complexity where analysis and evaluation of various outcomes require tradeoffs and negotiation. Ability to solve a wide range of difficult problems utilizing six sigma methods and A3 reporting techniques that may require coordination across multiple teams.
