Nano Precision Medical is an early-stage start-up company located in Emeryville, CA. We are developing a small, implantable device to improve treatment for people suffering from chronic diseases by providing sustained medication levels over several months without the need for injections. Come join us.

We are seeking a Senior Facilities Engineer to support approximately 20,000 square feet of office and laboratory space. The candidate should have experience with large capital equipment maintenance and installation as well as strong knowledge of air handling equipment, electrical, and plumbing requirements of laboratory facilities. The candidate should also be prompt, professional, and efficient in communicating with architects, contractors, managers, scientists, and engineers and should be able to operate independently and propose facilities and maintenance solutions directly to top level management. An exceptional candidate would have experience with life science or semiconductor lab management. The ideal candidate would be familiar with GMP (Good Manufacturing Processes) and GMP documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years or more of experience in facilities AND a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field OR 10 years or more of experience in a facilities engineering role.
  • Must be functional with minimal oversight.
  • Experience installing and repairing capital equipment such as laser welders, mass spectrometers, plasma etchers, etc.
  • Experience with HVAC, air handling, exhaust, abatement, electrical, and plumbing needs in labs.
  • Experience with architectural plans.
  • Experience in clean rooms, preferably with maintenance and design of clean rooms.
  • Comfort with creating and implementing preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Outside the box thinker with start-up engineering solution experience, i.e. quick plumbing solutions, equipment logistics, etc.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with GMP facilities.
  • Familiarity with machine shops and machining.
  • Professional Engineering License.
  • Experience in Lab Management and/or Lab Operations.
  • Willingness to make jokes and puns about ladders (mostly the latter, which rung true).
