Senior Electrical Engineer
This position is for a veteran design engineer charged with setting scope of electrical work and overseeing design functions at one or more sites. About half the work is site investigation, preparation of site specific preliminary design documents & work scopes, supervision of design consultants and pricing support leading to acceptance by our customer of fixed price design/build proposals.The other half is supervision of final design (usually by design-build subcontractor) and support of construction to achieve final acceptance.Detail design requirements vary by customer, technology and subcontractors.
Responsibilities include:
  • Familiarity with efficient power generation, medium voltage distribution, smart switchgear, power quality improvement, variable speed drives, efficient motors, etc.
  • Electric load and distribution calculations to size generators, cable, switchgear, etc.
  • Written scopes of work for electrical systems for subcontractors
  • Cost estimates associated with electrical energy conservation measures.
  • Technical lead for electric storage and renewable integration
  • Innovative, clearly presented electrical energy efficiency concepts for proposals
  • Participation in sales presentations
  • Quality control review

  • 10 years experience in electric power systems design, central plant generation, distribution and controls design.
  • Experience developing detailed subcontractor scopes of work for electrical systems
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, E-TAP, Excel and Word
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skill


  • Conceived and designed power related energy conservation measures such as distributed generation, microgrids, power conditioning or utility interconnects in an Energy Savings Performance Contract environment.
  • Minimum two years in a design-build environment.
  • Administered consulting contracts and supported construction (e.g., submittal review or commissioning)
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Professional registration
