A position exists for a person who can provide technical and organizational leadership in a team-oriented atmosphere in the Connectors and LAC Department as a staff member. The Connector department is responsible for custom devices in support of unique systems applications. Duties include, but may not be limited to: (1) Collaborating with customers and other design staff to establish work scope and budget. (2) Document agreed upon tasks and deliverables. (3) Support other design staff in the design and development of products. (4) Developing, documenting, and executing to plans. (5) Collaborating with the Production Agency to incorporate defect prevention and design for manufacture. (6) Writing reports, performing cost estimates, working issues and presenting results/findings. (7) Providing quality product that satisfies customer requirements within cost and schedule constraints with supporting qualification evidence. (8) Working with design staff in performing concurrent engineering, qualification, and production. (9) Facilitating data acquisition throughout the product life cycle to demonstrate sustained compliance with customer requirements. (10) Adherence to safety, process controls, and quality principles is essential to the success of our department. (11) Some travel required.


+ Advanced Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, Material Science or equivalent discipline with an undergraduate degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM)
+ Component or subsystem design experience that would include electronic/electrical, electromechanical or mechanical design practices, experience in the application of engineering principles, and manufacturing methods
+ Able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level security clearance


+ Experience and knowledge of connector and interconnection technology
+ Knowledge of the Product Realization Process
+ Demonstrated oral, written, and presentation communication skills
+ Strong desire to be involved in project management in support of product design, development and evaluation
+ Active DOE Q-Level security clearance

The High Reliability Connectors & Lightning Arrest Connector (LAC) Department (2631) designs, develops, tests and qualifies hermetic, non-hermetic, specialty and lightning arrestor connectors and conducts component and material evaluation (CME) of stockpile LACs, delivering comprehensive, accurate and timely assessments of the same. We use the Realize Product Subsystem (RPSS) to realize Mark Quality product that covers the complete product realization cycle of requirements, design, development, specification, qualification, procurement, delivery and stockpile support through our partners at the National Security Campus (NSC). We employ defect-prevention strategies to gain an understanding of design margin during the development cycle. The department?s capabilities include the ability to address multiple challenging requirements related to meeting high reliability over extremely long life, radiation tolerance, nuclear safety requirements, size and weight restrictions.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.
