We are seeking a R&D S&E, Systems Engineer as a Trainer PRT to develop 4 B61\-12 Trainer systems\.



On any given day, you may be called on to:



+ Serve as deputy PRT lead, assisting in the allocation and prioritization of team resources, coordinate with program stakeholders, and support/conduct the review and approval of PRT work products\.

+ Serve as technical lead for the product realization of the 4 B61\-12 Trainer systems\.

+ Have responsibility for the planning and execution of day\-to\-day activities and managing the PRT members and execution to the teams project plan\.

+ Provide technical support related to requirement definition, requirement validation, requirement verification, design definition, and design verification\.

+ Support project management for schedule, scope and budget for the PRT\.

+ Interface with numerous B61\-12 PRTs and external stakeholders \(e\.g\., NNSA, AF, LANL, NSC, and Pantex\)\.



This position requires moderate travel \(~10 trips per year\)\.



Required:



+ Bachelors and advanced degree \(Masters or PhD\) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering \(or closely related technical STEM field\) plus two or more years engineering experience; or a Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering \(or closely related technical STEM field\) plus 6 years of engineering experience\.

+ Active US DOE Q security clearance or DoD Top Secret clearance and ability to maintain Sigma 15 access, which will require submission to a polygraph examination\.



Desired:



+ Experience with large, complex product realization efforts\.

+ Experience managing scope, schedules and budgets on medium to large projects\.

+ Experience with nuclear weapons\.

+ Knowledge of the B61\-12 system level electrical and mechanical design\.

+ Knowledge of the Sandia Nuclear Weapons development process\.

+ Experience with nuclear weapon trainers for the DoD or Pantex\.

+ Experience with P6 and earned value management\.

+ Experience with DOORS and PDMLink systems\.

+ Experience with the NNSA engineering authorization system\.

+ Demonstrated ability to negotiate, integrate, prioritize, and execute activities to support multiple agency needs\.

+ Demonstrated ability to conduct system level trades\.

+ Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team, direct team activities, and effectively delegate work assignments\.

+ Excellent written and oral communication skills with the capability of representing Sandia before NNSA and DoD customers\.



Department Description:



The B61\-12 Non\-WR Systems Engineering department \(2324\) is one of ten departments responsible for the Sandia system program management, design and qualification of the B61\-12 life extension program \(LEP\)\. These ten departments work closely with each other and with other agencies within the Nuclear Security Enterprise \(e\.g\., NNSA, Kansas City Plant, Pantex Plant\) and within the DoD \(e\.g\., Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center\) to execute the B61 LEP\. Department 2324 is responsible for the design and delivery of non\-WR system assemblies for the B61\-12: Joint Test Assembly \(JTA\), Compatibility Test Units \(CTUs\), Trainers and Ancillary Equipment, and Flight Bodies/IOT&E bodies\. The department activities include design, testing and assembly and interfaces heavily with the other B61\-12 departments as well as with system and component organizations throughout Sandia\.

Position requires an active Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance or active clearance with another US government agency, e\.g\., DOD, to be considered for this position\.
