An opportunity exists for an experienced electrical systems engineer to lead the ALT 940 OTR technical basis effort\. The successful candidate will lead the development of the technical basis for all aspects of the OTR effort to include test and fielding of these systems in the NW enterprise\. This will entail planning and execution of Integration and Test \(I&T\) activities of electronics modules into integrated systems as well as managing internal and external interface specifications\. Other responsibilities include contributing to program planning to determine which technical basis activities can be performed against given constraints such as budget and schedule and providing technical briefings to senior leadership\.


+ BS and MS in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant STEM field with evidence of strong academic achievement or Bachelors degree with 8 years of experience\.

+ Demonstrated track record performing large\-scale systems engineering for complex national security systems\.

+ A team player capable of handling multiple assignments, with strong customer focus and excellent oral and written communication skills\.

+ Active DOE Q\-level or DOD Top Secret security clearance\.


+ Deep technical expertise in at least one relevant engineering discipline: analog electronic systems, microelectronics \(micro\-processor or FPGA based\), digital signal processing, RF or digital communications, computer engineering, software engineering, or electro\-optical engineering\.

+ Professional Systems Engineering certification from INCOSE or other recognized body

+ Familiarity with Transportation systems\.

+ Familiarity with W88, W80\-1, and/or B61 weapons systems and related development processes\.

Department Description:

The special projects department was established to focus on the successful deployment of Integrated Surety Architectures \(ISA\) applications for reentry body and air delivered systems into the transportation safeguards system embodied by the Safeguards Transporter \(SGT\)\. The organization serves as the ISA project integration office at Sandia to the NNSA enterprise for over the road \(OTR\) applications\. Currently, there are two major ISA efforts underway at SNL for ALT 940 and the Multi\-application Transportation Attachment Device \(MTAD\) for air delivered systems\. As such, the organization interacts extensively with the NW development and stockpile systems capabilities within the laboratory in addition to the transportation safeguards program\.

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance to start\.
