Department 5344 requires an additional member of the technical staff to lead advanced radar projects\. The selected staff member will be responsible for activities including: understanding key unique aspects of Sandias radar expertise and capability, working with customers within the government to identify applications where such advanced radar systems are needed, informing government users about rapidly advancing capabilities, setting up project teams among Sandia groups and our partners to address government needs and leading those teams to deliver the capability\. Some assignments involve partners from industry who manufacture our technology under license\. The qualified individual will also need the following crucial skillsets to be successful in this role:

+ Interest in Learning Advanced Radar Concepts as they Apply to National Security Needs\.

+ Ability to Create Teams Internal and External to Sandia\.

+ Ability to Lead Teams to Deliver\.

+ Understanding of Engineering Risk\.

+ Understanding of Estimating\.

+ Understanding of Budgeting\.

+ Understanding of Scheduling\.

+ Excellent Communication skills with Customers, Management, Team Members\.

+ Interest in Continued Learning as Radar Capabilities Advance\.

+ Ability to Inform High\-Level Customers of Applicable Advancements\.

+ Business Development\.


+ Requires a Bachelors and an advanced degree \(Masters or PhD\) in a STEM discipline plus two or more years experience;

+ Experience in analysis, hardware design, or software design\.

+ Experience with fielding systems\.


+ Demonstrated experience with estimating research and development projects\.

+ Demonstrated experience with managing budget, schedule, and risk on an engineering development project\.

+ Understanding Structure of Agencies and Branches involved in Security\.

+ Understanding of Advanced Radar Concepts as they Apply to National Security Needs\.

+ Familiarity with system design principles\.

+ Possesses a strategic perspective for national security needs and Sandias role\.

Department Description:

The Radar ISR Applications & Analysis Department works within Sandias Radar Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Business area to develop and field high\-performance multi\-mode radar systems\. Our department specializes in deep engineering analysis of radar system design, modeling radar interactions with scenes and targets, analyzing radar performance in challenging real\-world environments, project management, high\-performance architectures and implementations, radar experimentation, and field\- and flight\-test\. We apply our engineering skills to all phases of the system life cycle from fundamental research to use in the field with direct national security impact\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\.
