We are seeking R&D, Computer Science professionals to join our team\. The position is for skilled, motivated, and customer\-oriented individuals to provide research and development in application of Computer Science for Sandias Science and Engineering Computing Environments Organization\. The selected candidate must have strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively identify and engage in the resolution of complex technical issues\. The work environment is fast\-paced and dynamic and thus makes effective communication and teaming key elements of success\. The selected candidate should have a track record of meeting and exceeding customer expectations, successfully teaming cross\-organizationally, consistently delivering on schedule, and a desire to learn new technologies, concepts, and processes\.

It is expected that the selected individuals will:

+ Understand technical and functional design requirements and work closely with users to define and develop overall requirements\.

+ Design, architect and implement algorithms and techniques with the goals of insight, usability and advancement of technology\.

+ Research the state of the art in research topics such as Machine Learning, Computer Vision and Reinforcement Learning\.

+ Proactively seek opportunities to broaden and deepen ones own knowledge base and proficiencies\.

+ Seek and participate in development opportunities above and beyond the required levels and mentor those with less experience through informal and collaborative means\.

+ Network successfully with a diverse technical population to foster technical growth in support of Mission Customers\.


+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or in a relevant STEM discipline PLUS four years of relevant experience; or Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or in a relevant STEM discipline


+ Ability to obtain and maintain a Q\-Level Security clearance\.

+ Abilty to obtain and maintain an SCI\- Level Security clearance\.

+ Excellent communication skills with ability to work effectively in a team environment while pursuing individual tasks in a self\-directed manner\.

+ Strong software design, engineering and development skills, including familiarity with modern software development practices and tools\.

+ Knowledge of and experience with implementation of the full software development life cycle using iterative or agile methods\.

+ Experience with large, complex scientific and technical software systems engineering, development and deployment\.

+ Ability to develop and present ideas and results in oral and written form\.

+ Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team environment\.

+ Experience with Tensorflow, pytorch, keras, etc\.

+ Proficient in at least 3 programming languages\.

+ Proficient in Linux environments\.

+ Experience in Machine Learning/Deep Learning\.

+ Experience with image processing and analysis\.

+ Experience with text analytics, including preprocessing of unstructured information, dimension reduction techniques, and application of supervised/unsupervised algorithms\.

+ Experience and demonstrated success in effective communication of analytic results with concise reporting and visualizations\.

Department Description:

Science & Engineering Computing\-Environment Services Department, Org 9321, provides advanced capabilities and in\-depth support for a broad range of scientific and engineering computing services which include: high performance computing, remote graphics workstations, high performance storage, scientific and engineering applications, web development, software engineering, and continuous integration \(compilation and test\) environments\. The department designs, develops, manages, and provides cutting edge software and tools across multiple platforms used to create complex mission unique capabilities\. The department develops and implements new and emergent technologies and capabilities in support of mission and programmatic needs\. We partner with other organizations and teams across the Laboratories to deliver user environments, subject matter expert support, and application\-level software and tools to support the scientific and engineering communities\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a SCI security clearance\.

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance, which requires U\.S\. citizenship and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test\.
