We are seeking a Manager for the Pulsed Power Engineering Department \(01693\)\. This role provides the opportunity to lead mechanical engineers and designers in their delivery of pulsed power systems, components and concepts to the Puled Power Sciences Centers many programs\.



On any given day, you may be called on to:



+ Manage a high performing team of engineers and designers in the Pulsed Power Sciences Center in their delivery of complex pulsed power systems to safety, schedule, scope, and budget requirements

+ Manage the team in the delivery of facilities solutions to the pulsed power machines and systems in the center \(insulating oils, De\-Ionized water, insulating gases, cryogens\)

+ Motivate, mentor, and develop the team to enable them to meet the engineering and design challenges in the Pulsed Power Sciences Center with safety as the focus

+ Team with group management staff in the development and/or continuous improvement of the engineering and design processes with a focus on quality



Required:



+ Master's degree in relevant STEM discipline plus 10 years engineering\-related experience or Bachelors degree in relevant STEM discipline plus 15 years engineering\-related experience

+ Five years of leadership experience

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoE Q clearance



Desired:



+ Project management experience with complex R&D projects with successful delivery in meeting customer needs \(safety scope, schedule, budget\)

+ Experience working with cross\-functional teams

+ Experience with advanced engineering tools including or equivalent to CREO, ABAQUS, ANSYS, CTH, etc\., with implementation experience

+ Experience with pulsed power/accelerator technology

+ Experience leading complex R&D projects with accelerator level hazards

+ Experience with radiation generating devices

+ Current, active DOE L clearance or active clearance with another US government agency, e\.g\., DOD Secret or Top Secret



Department Description:



The Pulsed Power Engineering Department \(01693\) provides fundamental, advanced, and cutting edge engineering to support the advanced science research and development programs in the Pulsed Power Sciences Center at Sandia National Laboratories\. The departments engineers, designers and technologists work together with the centers scientists to deliver engineered solutions in the complex development needs of next generation advanced pulsed power accelerators, sustainment and enhancement of current machines, execution of experiments on these facilities, and maintenance of the oil/water/gas infrastructures\. The department uses CREO and SolidWorks computer aided design platforms and advanced engineering tools like ABAQUS and Sandias CTH Shock Physics and Sierra Suite Codes to perform complex engineering analysis in support of the Centers programs\.

Security Clearance:



Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
