We are seeking a R&D Electronics Engineer

Required:



+ Requires a **bachelor?s and master?s** degree in relevant **STEM** discipline plus two or more year?s experience; or **bachelor's and doctorate** in relevant **STEM** discipline. The requirement for a **STEM** Master?s degree can be waived for candidates with a **bachelor?s** in a relevant **STEM** discipline and engineering or scientific experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills and ability to perform independent research and development.
+ Demonstrated experience with VHDL and/or Verilog.
+ Demonstrated experience with synthesis and analysis tools such as ModelSim, Xilinx ISE and/or Vivado.
+ Experience with PCB design, test, and evaluation.

Desired:

+ Experience with optical sensors.
+ Experience developing hardware for space-based applications.
+ MatLab, Python, Labview and other engineering and programming language experience.
+ Project and proposal development experience, including experience negotiating project deliverables with external customers.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Ability to work on challenging engineering problems in a fast-paced environment.
+ Ability to work on large inter-disciplinary teams.
+ Ability to obtain an SCI clearance.



The Advanced Sensing Technologies Department (6771) is responsible for developing innovative sensing technologies which result in next generation, world class remote sensing systems. The department maintains world class capabilities for the engineering and characterization of advance focal plane arrays (FPAs) and supports NNSA and other national security missions within center 6700. The center is composed of highly skilled individuals in sensing sciences R&D, phenomenology, sensor engineering, advanced sensor modeling and characterization, image signal processing and high performance electronics.

Security Clearance:


Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications.
