We are seeking a R&D Cybersecurity Vulnerability Assessment

Outstanding, experienced R&D Cybersecurity professionals are needed to work with energetic and highly talented teams in cyber security and systems research, development and engineering. New team members have the opportunity to investigate a breadth of topical areas including security for systems, networks, wireless communications, applications, industrial control systems, operating systems, virtual machines, and cloud computing; embedded systems; cryptography; analytics; modeling and simulation; network vulnerability analysis and penetration testing; and R&D activities aimed at identifying and improving the security of computers, computer networks, and other digital electronic systems.

In our dynamic work environment, you may be called on to:

? Conduct and/or lead R&D to discover and test innovative methods in cybersecurity.

? Participate in programs by using evaluation techniques, critical review, experimentation, and engineering research & development methods.

? Evaluate and assess vulnerabilities that occur in complex, large-scale traditional enterprise networks or non-traditional national security systems.

? Collaborate with sponsor & industry partners; understand real-world threats to propose, plan, conduct, or serve as principal investigator for research and development.

? Prepare and deliver written and oral technical work products to technical audiences;

? Perform engineering or research tasks independently or with cross-functional teams.

? Learn new skills and expand your capabilities; apply nontraditional, creative thinking to address our nation?s most challenging cybersecurity challenges.

Required:



? Master?s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant discipline.

? Experience or training in one of the following areas: network vulnerability analysis and penetration testing, cyber security, analytics, machine learning, distributed computation, modeling and simulation, or a closely related field.

? Ability to obtain and maintain US DOE Q and SCI clearances.

Desired:

? Excellent communication skills, demonstrated ability to develop and present technical ideas and results in oral and written form

? Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects or conduct scientific research to extend the state of the art in one or more of the above areas.

? Strong analytical, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills.

? Thorough knowledge of and experience with designing, planning, and executing research, design, and development projects.

? Ability to perform effectively in a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment

? Willingness and ability to travel at up to 25% time based on team work load.

? Current US Government security clearance desired, preferably DOE Q and SCI clearances.



The Cyber Physical Security Department is a forward-looking security risk management team of experts that analyze existing and future security architectures and technologies, and develop next generation methods and tools to improve the security effectiveness and assurance of our nation's critical systems. We employ systems engineering approaches across a spectrum that covers embedded, wireless, enterprise, and globally connected technologies. Our multidisciplinary R&D security research group includes electrical engineers, computer scientists, network security and engineering experts, and security risk management thought leaders. Core program areas our teams support include system red teaming, specialized software development, enterprise security risk assessments, and supply chain security. In addition, our department is leading new R&D security projects for physical protection systems to evaluate and manage security risks at the cyber-physical interface. Security Clearance:


Position requires a SCI security clearance.

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance.
