We are seeking a R&D Cognitive Systems



The selected candidate can expect to perform a diverse set of technical and operational tasks:



+ Design, manage and administer data center infrastructure, including physical, virtual and disaster recovery servers and storage system environments\.

+ Oversee classified virtual desktop backend infrastructure hardware including compute, storage, networking and boundary devices\.

+ Work closely with other teams across a wide spectrum of disciplines including cloud, networking, high performance computing, and cyber security to ensure a robust, secure, and reliable IT environment\.

+ Provide inputs and design ideas to better modernize the NAPGS data center environment\.

+ Act as an advisor to the team and assist in coordinating infrastructure changes\.

+ Serve as technical SME and contributor to our NGS cyber and computational infrastructure needs\.

+ Drive excellence in overall technical performance of the NGS initiatives\.



Required:



+ B\.S\. in computer science, computer engineering or relevant STEM discipline plus five or more years of experience; or master's degree in relevant discipline plus two or more years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience\.

+ Minimum 5 years of experience in System Architecture Design, Linux system administration and Cisco switched network environments

+ Experience with System Automated Deployment and Compliance tools; \(Puppet, Ansible, etc\)

+ Active and current DOE Q security clearance



Desired:



+ Deep expertise with virtual environments including VMware Sphere, Linux KVM and Docker Experience with scripting & programing languages such as Python, Ruby, Java, C/C\+\+, SQL Knowledge of network architecture i\.e\. TCP/IP, fiber channel, and software defined networking

+ Extensive knowledge of system deployment tools \(Ansible, puppet, kickstart\)

+ Experience with RH 7 Identity Management Suite; Kerberos, DNS and Active Directory deployments

+ Experience with administration and management of servers and storage systems Oracle ZFS Clustered File Systems

+ HP Blade Environments Experience with system monitoring and management tools such as Splunk, SCCM, Nagios and Nessus / ACAS

+ Experience working in and operating a physical data center facility including cabling, power distribution, airflow management, etc\.

+ Experience effectively prioritizing and executing tasks in a constantly changing environment Experience working in a continuous improvement environment

+ Understanding of Agile, Lean, and DevOps methodologies

+ Strong analytical and organizational skills

+ Effective verbal and written communication skills



Department Description:



The Advanced Information Architectures department, 6532, is responsible for information technology R&D and its application to the delivery of complex, real\-time data systems that enable our customers to make timely and accurate decisions\. Department responsibilities include the developing a space\-to\-ground communication path for NuDet Detection System \(NDS\) sensor data flown aboard the DoD's Global Positioning System \(GPS\) constellation of satellites\. Skills within the department include software development, data handling, device interfaces and control, and data visualization\. We work in close partnership with numerous matrix organizations in other centers and with three other Decision Support System \(DSS\) departments in Center 6500 \(6532, 6533, and 6536\) which collectively form the DSS Business Area\. Current development efforts in the DSS Business Area are based on open architectures using distributed architectures, object oriented architectures, web\-, X/Motif\-, and Windows\-based GUIs, XML, CORBA, networking, web technologies, object oriented and relational databases, geographical information systems, C\+\+, C, Java and Perl, running in UNIX, NT, and Linux environments\.
