We are looking for a candidate with strong software design and development skills and experience, with the ability to think broadly and deeply in the design and implementation of software applications.

It is expected that the selected individuals will:

+ Have fundamental technical competencies in software engineering practices, including designing, implementing, and testing production software applications
+ Work collaboratively with architects, developers, technical leads, customers, and end users to collect requirements, design solutions, and deliver extensible software applications
+ Be able to contribute to research and development in areas such as service-oriented and micro-services architectures, big data problem space, 3D data visualization, enterprise cyber security, mobile computing, and business intelligence


+ Minimum of a Master?s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or in a related field; or a Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or in a related field plus four or more years of experience;
+ Experience in software design and development using Java, Javascript, Python, C++, or C#; including proficiency in objected-oriented design and development


+ Experience with web-based application development
+ Knowledge of and experience with the full software development life cycle using iterative or agile methods
+ Experience using a relational DBMS (SQL server, Oracle, MySQL) or NoSQL DB (i.e MongDB)
+ Experience with 3D game development, augmented reality or virtual reality content creation
+ Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team environment; excellent listening and communication skills

The Advanced Solutions department (9359) has a mission to deliver next generation software solutions based on emerging technologies that can easily adapt to changing business needs. We architect, design, develop and support information system solutions that solve complex business problems across Sandia and the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). This is a team of software engineers that research new technologies and develop innovative solutions within technology areas such as service-oriented and micro-services architectures, big data problem space, data and compute virtualization, 3D data visualization, enterprise cyber security, and mobile computing

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications.
