The Space Control Systems and Technology Department seeks an aero/astro engineer to join a team that develops hardware and software solutions to national security space challenges\. The successful candidate will apply orbital analysis, aeronautical engineering and software design skills to a variety of space applications\.



On any given day, you may be called on to:



Perform modeling and simulation for Space Situational Awareness \(SSA\)/Space Control \(SC\) and Missile Warning \(MW\)/Missile Defense \(MD\) missions that have very complementary remote sensing performance requirements



Develop control algorithms for space flight and mission modeling



Identify critical capability gaps and shortfalls and develop potential resolutions



Develop and architect innovative integrated solutions including space and ground systems



Required:



Masters degree in Engineering plus 7 years experience\.



Experience in small satellite flight operations, systems research, development and engineering\.



Experience programming in MATLAB and/or Python\.



Ability to obtain and maintain a required US DOE Q security clearance\.



Ability to obtain and maintain a SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test\.



Desired:



Experience with modeling and simulation of space\-based remote sensing systems\.



Experience developing orbital algorithms for on\-board flight systems\.



Experience performing orbital and conjunction analysis for research\-class satellites\.



Experience with DoD and IC SSA/SC communities\.



Experience and interest in identifying, realizing and developing new project opportunities\.



PhD in aero/astro engineering or similar field\.



Department Description:



The Space Control Systems and Technology Department develops and executes customer\-funded research programs that build on foundational technologies in space situational awareness, space control, cyber, and big\-data analytics\. Next generation space situational awareness and control will rely heavily on the ability to correlate large data sets from multiple domains\. This department is ideally positioned to leverage Sandias state\-of\-the\-art high\-performance computing, micro\-electronics, trusted test platforms, and remote sensing expertise\. Our programs are executed in close coordination with existing and new initiatives across multiple U\.S\. Space organizations\.

Security Clearance:



Position requires a SCI security clearance\.



Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test\.



Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance, which requires U\.S\. citizenship and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test\.
