Position Summary:

Pentair is currently seeking a Quality Manager to provide leadership for the quality team in the resolution of problems and continuous improvement of product, processes and the quality management system. In this role, the Quality Manager will will work within the Hanover Park plant leadership team addressing all areas of business operations, and focused on achieving quality and operating objectives. This is a customer facing position to integrate the Voice of the Customer to actionable manufacturing and supplier strategies. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspirational leader who sets personal example and drives discipline culture

  • Understand organizational structures and organizational development to support the quality objectives and build the desired quality culture.

  • Understand techniques for facilitating organizational change, removing roadblocks, performing constraint management, motivating and resolving conflicts.

  • Understand the leadership process for building teams and growing capabilities to achieve employee empowerment.

  • Responsible for working directly with Customers and agencies (NSF, UL, WQA, etc) during in house audits and in post audit activities.

  • Responsible for maintaining FAA Quality Management System and ongoing FAA Certification process.

  • Develop and grow teamwork using a clear understanding of team formation and evolution, team-building techniques, team facilitation techniques, team leadership techniques, team performance evaluation, team reward and recognition.

  • Approach strategy development and development with a clear understanding of legal and regulatory factors, market forces, industry trends, technology trends and competitive pressures - S.W.O.T. (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats).

  • Utilize external (customer satisfaction surveys) and internal analysis (internal audit, capability analysis) to gather data for setting strategy

  • Assure integration between strategic quality plans and operations / financial or other plans.

  • Deploy strategic goals and objectives into operational plans and improvement projects.

  • Perform resource allocation planning to support the strategy.

  • Develop metrics and goals that drive organizational performance in alignment of the strategy.

  • Facilitate and promote problem-solving tools (the seven quality control tools, the seven management and planning tools, root cause analysis, Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA), 8D, 8 Step Problems Solving, A3, and other like models).

  • Facilitate and promote process management / lean manufacturing approaches with a quality principled focus.

  • Facilitate and promote measurement assessment and metrics methods (Statistical analysis, Trend analysis, Process capability, Reliability and validity, Qualitative assessment, Analysis and use of survey results, Benchmarking: internal and external)

  • Driving stakeholder for accepted quality system; e.g. BMS

  • Customer Relationship Management and Commitment

  • Determine levels of customer satisfaction through the use of various surveys and analysis tools.

  • Proactively approach customers, make trips to the field, etc., to help build relationships and a clear understanding of expectations. Continually anticipate customer needs and priorities; and integrate them into the quality system and policy.

  • Deploy the voice of the customers through various tools (QFD, 3D, Supplier requirements management, etc..)

  • Participate on supplier selection strategies and criteria

  • Techniques for communicating requirements to suppliers

  • Techniques for assessment and feedback of supplier performance

  • Supplier improvement strategies and certification programs

  • Partnerships and alliances with suppliers

  • Project Management / Communications

  • Structure and coordinate activities to successfully implement improvements (project justification and prioritization techniques, communication techniques, project planning and estimation, monitor and measure project activity, project documentation and related procedures

  • Maintain key performance metrics on the results of operating systems and business execution (COQ, External PPM, FPY, etc.)

  • Compile and present quality metrics, countermeasures and action plans for operations reviews.

  • Ensure that the quality function / mission is clearly communicated and a quality plan developed to support the mission.

  • Periodically review the effectiveness of the quality system and make adjustments as necessary.

  • Understand the various quality models (ie. Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) Criteria for Performance Excellence, ISO 9000, and other major industry or international standards)

  • Ensure that training is in alignment with strategic business needs and the quality objective using various methods (training needs analysis, training curriculum development, and techniques for evaluating training effectiveness).

     

Requirements

Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering , Statistics, or related field of study required

  • 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience

  • 3+ years of this experience in a decision-making position with the authority to define, execute, or control projects/processes and to be responsible for the outcome.

  • Proven experience in leading others in the advancement of quality and/or product engineering

  • Lean Manufacturing experience and knowledge required

  • Experience using the appropriate technology and business tools such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, DOE, and SPC.

  • Excellent knowledge of problem solving tools and methods, including statistics, combined with the ability to select and apply them to make data based decisions to sustain higher levels of process and product quality

  • Must have experience in handling multiple projects, drive bottom line results, and must be able to lead and develop teams consisting of manufacturing personnel (technical and operations), managers and suppliers.

  • Must be a hands-on self-starting team player with a solid working knowledge in the fundamentals of solid and fluid mechanics.

  • Must be able to work within and meet aggressive deadlines.

  • Must be detail oriented, have solid organizational skills, be capable of multi-tasking and have strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Must have good written and verbal communications skills and knowledge of inspection equipment.

     

Language Skills:

  • Able to communicate effectively in the English (read, write, speak).

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus

Travel:

Approximately 10 % travel to include domestic and international destinations to visit Pentair facilities and various supplier locations.
