Description: Description About the Position: The senior analyst position is primarily responsible for ensuring the Quality Assurance process around balance sheet account reconciliations is completed accurately and efficiently. The position supports the management team to assure that the corporate books and records of individual operating companies and their related business units and other entities are being accurately maintained. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Accountable to the respective Supervisor, Manager and/or Director for the appointed analyst position with primary responsibility for timely and accurate delivery of assigned tasks potentially including: Assures consistent quality of balance sheet account reconciliations by developing and enforcing good quality review procedures; validating processes and procedures; providing documentation and managing staff. Support of Line of Business, Service Company, Holding Company and Unregulated Company activities, including reviewing general ledger activity for account owners. Monitor and review work undertaken by junior staff in order to provide feedback on the appropriate use of materials, equipment, resources, processes, as well as adherence to schedule. Assist and coordinate work on projects by contributing to developing project standards and processes to improve project delivery within the relevant function. Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies with assigned area. Participate in month and year end closing process and support the annual independent audit, including finalizing QA samples and performing the QA review prior to submission to internal and external parties, coordinating questions or concerns raised and communicating results to account owners and management. Support the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account reconciliation quality information and trends as needed. Build upon technical/professional skills within own area of specialism or of other processes in order to continually grow your personal contribution to the business. Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to obtain and share information that will benefit National Grid. The senior analyst will ensure that policies, procedures and work instructions are sufficiently documented, accurate and current and reflect the controls framework relied on for financial statement integrity and in accordance with individual statutory requirements. The analyst will ensure that the policy and procedures are properly implemented. The senior analyst will work with confidential information including information on vendors, customers, current and former employees.
Qualifications Knowledge and Experience Required: 3-5 years of related experience Exhibit high personal standards of ownership, accountability, commitment and integrity Solid understanding of US GAAP and Group closing procedures (knowledge of IFRS a plus) Ability to establish a high level of confidence with personnel and external contacts Good knowledge of Company policies, procedures and standards Very good knowledge of federal, state and municipal regulations Demonstrated strong leadership skills including the ability to make timely decisions and work autonomously Proven excellent interpersonal and team-building skills including the ability to build and sustain productive collaborative relationships, motivate and communicate effectively Qualifications: Required Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills Ability to interact with all levels of management Must be proficient in Excel, Word and other MS Office applications Preferred: CPA or CPA eligible 3-5 years of related experience Knowledge of SAP Job Dimensions: Number general ledgers (primary operating companies): circa [30] Number of account reconciliations: circa [800] Potential for up to 10% travel
