Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance Engineer provides technical quality assurance support in Wagstaff Applied Technologies' diverse, highly regulated, manufacturing environment. Primary duties include inspection and work order planning, test planning and execution, metrology support, and oversight of the pressure vessel quality control program.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Perform inspection planning and work order planning.
Manage the technical aspects of quality control - Leak testing, electrical inspection, hydrostatic testing, functional testing, NDE/NDT, welding inspection, etc.
Serve as a general metrology resource for the company and its customers. Manage measurement planning, inspection services and programming of conventional and portable CNC coordinate measuring machines, laser trackers as well as manual measurement equipment.
Coordinate with Wagstaff AT project managers to develop project specific inspection planning documents in compliance with contract requirements.
Work closely with manufacturing engineering, scheduling and planning to insure inspection planning requirements are clearly defined in shop work orders (travelers).
Develop, recommend and implement enhancements to the quality management system that improve product and process quality.
Participate fully in multi-disciplinary/department problem solving teams to resolve process, design and product quality issues.
Ensure proper completion and maintenance of all quality system activities and records.
Maintain confidentiality and protect proprietary information.
Abide by company policies.
In order to achieve business objectives, work weeks in excess of 40 hours may be required.
Other duties as assigned.



A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field and a minimum of five (5) years work experience in quality assurance, preferably in a manufacturing environment, is required.
Alternatively, an Associate's Degree in a relevant field and ten (10) years work experience in quality assurance, preferably in a manufacturing environment, is required.
Quality program management experience is preferred.
Experience in nuclear, medical, chemical, aerospace/aviation or other regulated industry is preferred.
Experience with ASME-NQA-1 and/or ASME BPVC quality system is highly preferred.
The ability to read and interpret contracts, standards, codes, drawings and design specifications is required.
Knowledge of metrology and dimensional inspection techniques is preferred.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
Leadership Skills
Assigns tasks to and coordinates work with QA Engineers level 1 and with other departments as necessary.
Plans and coordinates detail aspects of the quality engineering work. Monitors scopes and schedules for assignments
Communication Skills
Demonstrated oral and technical writing skills.
Lead technical meetings and present specific aspects of quality engineering solutions.
Direction Received
Receives general direction on key objectives.
Receives guidance when necessary on unconventional or complex problems, direction on modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria.
