We are seeking a Engineering Systems Integration/Implementation Professional

An opportunity exists for an assembly, integration and test engineer to join the development program for the Mobile Guardian Transporter\. The MGT is the next generation of secure transportation and the program is seeking highly motivated team members\. The MGT program has recently begun the baseline design phase and has the broad support of Sandia and the NNSA leadership\. The selected individual will be part of the qualification team which will include planning and testing for two MGT prototype test bodies \(P1 and P2\) and a pre\-production unit \(PPU\)\. Qualification activities will be a multi\-year effort and impact the entire life cycle of the MGT\. This position provides the opportunity to play a key role in the development of a critical national security asset\.

**On any given day, you may be called on to:**

+ In coordination with the P1, P2 and PPU project leads, plan and execute the assembly and integration of the system prototypes; including some testing for system integration; and be responsible for the main electronics test beds;

+ Manage the allocated budget, coordinate resources, and oversee procurements;

+ Coordinate with all subsystem leads for full system integration into each prototype;

+ Identify and coordinate personnel resources appropriate for each stage of integration;

+ Develop and document all safety / assembly procedures and quality inspection;

+ Develop, negotiate, and manage the detailed schedule of prototype assembly, integration, and some testing activities \(mostly electrical\);

+ Manage risks associated for full system assembly and integration for each prototype, including risks once hardware is handed off from the subsystems;

+ As part of the qualification team, work with the team to help ensure qualification and verification activities are met for each prototype;

+ Develop and maintain stores inventory for all verified hardware with appropriate pedigree for all prototype assembly activities;

+ Ensure that the overall logistics and workflow the high bay is performed efficiently with emphasis on supporting all prototype builds;

+ Lead team of technologists and staff for the successful assembly and integration for all prototype builds\.


+ Demonstrated experience planning and directing engineering projects in which coordination with internal and external customers is required for successful completion;

+ Experience in successful project planning and execution in which requirements, project scope, schedule and costs are negotiated and met;

+ Experience building and leading teams to the successful conclusion of a project;

+ Demonstrated effective interface among technologists, design engineers and material suppliers leading to the successful assembly, integration and test of a complex engineering project;

+ Associates degree in a relevant STEM discipline plus 8 or more years of relevant Engineering and Operations experience; or bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM discipline plus five or more years of relevant Engineering and Operations experience; or a master's degree in a relevant STEM discipline plus two or more years of relevant Engineering and Operations experience;

+ Two or more years of experience working at a systems or strategic level;

+ Experience deploying a new system or product;

+ Active DOE Q\-Level security clearance\.


+ Basic understanding of Sandia CAD drawing and modeling tools;

+ Understanding of Sandia drawing, configuration, and requirements management systems;

+ Demonstrated technical and analytic knowledge, experience and understanding applied to solve technical problems;

+ Self\-motivated, positive individual comfortable working in a fast\-paced environment;

+ Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;

+ Understanding of developing, qualifying and delivering product\.

Department Description:

The Mechanical Systems and Design Department is responsible for mechanical design of the MGT and for sustaining all technical aspects of the SGT fleet\. Both the MGT and the SGT projects are high\-visibility, multi\-year efforts which go from concept development to fielded product in support of national security missions\. Our engineers have access to the latest CAD and ASC \(Advanced Simulation and Computing\) tools for developing and analyzing their designs\. They also can participate in extensive field tests up through full scale models\. Our technologists can perform detailed design definition and are experienced with fabrication of mechanical components\. We have the capabilities to prototype, assemble and instrument scaled models as well as full scale components and systems in our well\-equipped high\-bay lab space\. Our team routinely uses 3D printers and 3D lasers scanners in their work
