The MWRA is seeking a Project Manager, Mechanical to assist the Program Manager, Mechanical in providing mechanical construction and field inspection services and technical assistance for various Deer Island mechanical construction and maintenance design projects. The work includes assisting in the design development involving mechanical additions and improvements, including layout changes for plant equipment; developing conceptual sketches, field measurements and reviews manufacturer product data; compiling designs and drawings, providing first draft layouts and detailed design options; incorporating review comments into a final version with minimal technical guidance, supervision and direction; acting as the resident field inspector on mechanical construction and maintenance projects; maintaining organized and detailed files of design projects and construction projects including daily construction logs; providing Engineering design calculations (i.e. pipe flow pressure drop); maintaining documentation of work performed by construction contractors, designers and in-house tradesmen, recommending approval variations made necessary by contingencies arising during construction and installation; overseeing modifications to operation and maintenance documentation with respect to mechanical design modifications and upgrades; assisting the plant operations staff with technical resolution and recommendations to mechanical problems, which arise during normal operation of the plant; developing and maintaining files and familiarity with all codes, code addenda, code cases, and industry standards applicable to the mechanical field, and ensure that facility specifications comply; assisting with the coordination of plant project activities with engineering consultants, contractors and manufacturers; and providing oral and written reports detailing results of problem investigations and economic justification for proposed changes.

Requirements

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering; seven (7) to nine (9) years of experience with the installation, field inspection, and maintenance of a wide variety of mechanical equipment and a valid driver’s license. EIT is preferred.
