Leading/directing the efforts of a cross-functional engineering team for all engineering development and test activities related to Taylor product line projects. Position is the key technical interface between program management, principal engineer, engineering and customers.
Responsible for developing and tracking engineering plans, schedules and budgets to support project deadlines and earned value metrics. Develops bill of material and cost estimates. Responsible for system integration of components and subsystem designs to produce a unified design platform that meets the customer needs. Execute activity to support the phase gated engineering product development process; includes Technical Design Reviews, Quality Review Boards and Passport presentations. This includes but not limited to the creation of functional flow diagrams, pugh matrices, equipment specifications, agreed terms of reference, design and development verification plans, risk cubes, critical parameter management schemes, robust design techniques, design failure mode and effects analysis, assignment of critical parameters, system and top level prototypes, budgets, schedules and customer presentations. Responsible for identification and documentation of technical risks including the development and execution of risk mitigation strategies. Works with CAD, regulatory, and Lab resources to create and execute component and sub-system design verification and qualification test plans. Leverages Carrier and external resources to aid in solving technical problems. Responsible for translating the voice of customer input into technical requirements and developing critical parameter management in conjunction with system requirements. Responsible for change management related to product line assignments. Direct engagement with DFx in system and sub-system design. Support compliance engineering to meet regulatory requirements in the areas of materials, designs and component sourcing.
Creates purchase requisitions for parts, prototypes, and outside engineering services required to support job activities. Records and reports engineering time and work progress for earned value tracking and project scheduling. Work within a team environment along with other technical team members. Develop and communicate work output in multiple reporting and presentation media for a technical audience. Works in multiple settings as required to develop a practical design experience. Utilize Design ProCert (DFSS) tools for accomplishing duties. Maintains cleanliness of work area and follows safe work practice rules.

TECHNICAL SKILLS (May vary by specific job duty):

  • Microsoft Office Professional (includes MS Project, Advanced Excel skills).

  • FEA/CFD and other analytical & simulation tools.

  • Quantitative & statistical analysis.

  • 3D CAD familiarity .

  • Proficient in the majority of the following subsystems:

Controls/sensing/closed loop systems
Fluid transfer/Dispensing

  • Proficient with compliance requirements for sanitation and safety within the food industry.

  • Strong engineering skills in one or more of the following areas: Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration Engineering.

  • Systems integration experience desired.

  • Self directed/self starter requiring minimal supervision.

10+ years experience in mechanical design with 3+ years project lead experience.

Minimum BSME/BSEE or equivalent
