The United Technologies Aerospace Systems – Electric, Environmental and Engine Control Systems business is seeking a strong candidate for the role of Project Engineer - PWES Digital Controls. The candidate will be responsible for executing the Digital Controls Project Engineering activity for the PWES Engine Controls programs. The group’s main responsibility is to lead integrated product development teams in developing and certifying Electronic Controls and/or a Health Monitoring Units for a leading Aerospace Engine manufacturer. As such, this individual has responsibility for the design, fabrication, procurement, testing and production of these electronic products.

The Project Engineer – PWES Digital Controls shall be responsible for the following:

  • Establish, manage and track project plans for the new development programs
  • Coordinate activities as part of an Integrated Product Development (IPD) teams through Preliminary Design, Detailed Design and Verification and Validation
  • Ensure compliance to product specification requirements
  • Manage project cost and schedule through Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Determine, manage, and mitigate any program risks
  • Utilize the Standard Work tool to drive the IPD teams through the proper technical design reviews and program reviews
  • Work with functional managers to ensure the proper Resource Management plan is in place
  • Present to Engineering and Program Management as well as Customer representatives
  • Travel to customers and suppliers as needed
  • Write and review test and engineering specifications including certification plans and reports
  • Oversee work in the lab such as development and certification hardware testing
  • Lead RRCA investigations during the design phase to ensure that robust fixes are put in place
  • Manage obsolescence for the electronic program
  • Engineering Change coordination
  • Review and disposition non-conforming material



Qualification:
  • 0-1 years of related experience preferred (Technical Internship)
  • D0-160, D0-178, and D0-254 familiarity and Certification Authority knowledge is a plus
• Familiarity with electronic controls and/or electrical components/modules is required
• Should have expertise in product development and production of electronic equipment
• Must have strong planning skills and be familiar with earned value management
• Should have the ability to electrical engineering experience to analyze hardware failures, recommend corrective action, conduct engineering investigations and develop/conduct tests
• Excellent verbal and written skills are critical along with the ability to work/lead in a cross functional team environment
• Track record of meeting scope, schedule and budget commitments and demonstrated ability to work well in cross functional IPD environments.
* at least a 3.0 graduating GPA
