Description: Description About the Position: This role will be responsible for forecasting, assessment, monitoring and maintaining capital investment and project information for the Facilities Capital Program in accordance with the National Grid project management processes and perform other duties assigned by management. The Analyst role will be a part of the Facilities Project organization which oversees approximately 45 million dollars inspend in 8 million square feet of building space in NY, MA, and RI. Analyst will work closely with Project Managers and Facilities O&M Supervisors and provide assistance with meeting project/program goals and objectives.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Maintain, analyze and report asset investment information like monthly metrics, committed dollars, project maturity and DOA reports to staff and other organizations. Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures. Confirm & monitor capital project spend requests fit into the capital plan. Track actual costs, adjustments, and variances on an ongoing basis. Provide monthly forecasting of the Facilities Capex spend and ensure management has access to up to date and accurate information. Conduct regular spend review meetings Work with Project Managers/Supervisors to provide and verify project forecasts and accruals. Assist Project Managers/Supervisors in spend approvals, committed dollars, reimbursements, material and invoice tracking. Monitor and review financial information, updating where necessary in order to identify any anomalies or discrepancies. Investigate monthly mischarges. Determine the proper accounting and prepare journal entry adjustments. Prepare monthly/quarterly variance reports. Track and report project overruns and assist in resolution Assist in work order closeout process to ensure capital assets are recorded in an accurate and timely manner. Develop and maintain technical data in spreadsheets and databases. Prepare information for audit, compliance requirements, and rate case filings Work on special cost analysis projects.
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Engineering and 3+ years of relevant financial analyst experience, preferably in the utility industry PMP Certification a plus. Demonstrated proficiency the MS Office Suite of products; especially Excel Knowledge of Power Plant, SAP, Business Objects is desired Proven problem solving and analytical skills capabilities. Proficient skills in the use of a variety of computer software including the proven ability to develop and maintain complex spreadsheets and databases. Ability to research, compile, coordinate, schedule, review, document, organize, verify data and conduct independent complex analysis, and identify inconsistencies. Ability to problem solve and implement process improvements. Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.
